ReinyRooster Posted September 1, 2021 #1 Posted September 1, 2021 My 2009 has a round plug in the left saddlebag that I was told was for a CD player. Anybody know if that is correct? I have no CD player and don't want one so when I get her apart, I will disconnect that cable if possible.
Freebird Posted September 1, 2021 #2 Posted September 1, 2021 Yes, it was for the optional cd changer. Somebody probably had the changer at one time. Though I think I heard that the cable came with some of the later models. Originally they came with the changer.
Freebird Posted September 1, 2021 #3 Posted September 1, 2021 And yes? You can unplug it inside the fairing.
sleepy2 Posted September 2, 2021 #5 Posted September 2, 2021 My 2012 came stock with the plug and was told it was for CD player which I would need good luck trying to find one!!!
saddlebum Posted September 2, 2021 #6 Posted September 2, 2021 (edited) According to the wiring schematics that is what it is and if as @sleepy2 states finding one is not easy, I do not see if one had the proper pin-out diagram why an adapter cord could not be made up to make an aftermarket CD changer work. XV1100SE Posted September 2, 2021 #7 Posted September 2, 2021 In the U.S. I believe Yamaha included the CD changer in 2008 or 2009 but bikes from that time on included the cable in the left saddlebag. The cd changers come up for sale once in a while and think I saw one listed (somewhere) recently for $100. My 2009 didn't come with the cd changer (Canada) but does has the cable. There was an Apple adapter that was available that connected to the cable and I got one for my iPod which allowed you to change songs using the handlebar controller. I still have it but it is for the old style Apple connectors/devices of that time. If anyone wants one I'd gladly part with it.
ReinyRooster Posted September 2, 2021 Author #8 Posted September 2, 2021 I will never use a CD player on the bike so that cable will be free to whoever wants it once I get it out of the bike.
