Pasta Burner Posted August 30, 2021 #1 Posted August 30, 2021 I took a video rather than trying to explain. I’m not sure when this started but I Definitely didn’t notice it this bad before this morning on my way to work. Something to note, a few weeks ago the cables on the right side (not sure which one as wasn’t watching it) caught the head of the cigarette lighter and ripped it apart during a parking lot maneuver. Question is, what part / parts should I be fixing or replacing? IMG_0336.MOV
Pasta Burner Posted August 30, 2021 Author #3 Posted August 30, 2021 @luvmy40 any better now? My wifi is being dumb.
Pasta Burner Posted August 30, 2021 Author #4 Posted August 30, 2021 (edited) Ok found the problem the white plastic piece finally had enough apparently and the cable was just sitting inside the housing. (Put back in place for the pic.) According to this IPB looks like it’s part of the grip assembly item 19. Or is there an insert I can buy? https://www.youngpowersportslayton.com/oempartfinder#/Yamaha/XVZ13DT_-_1987/HANDLEBAR_CABLE/7f27add3-8aa1-4fc3-ac41-cc44b1eded4d/f86175b4-7082-4ed0-8c30-c8fb2fee8a8b/y Edited August 30, 2021 by Pasta Burner

I’m gonna have to look into that. For now, my redneck engineering prevails. Zip tie and fluid film. IMG_0336.MOV Edited August 31, 2021 by Pasta Burner

You don't have to buy Kuryakyn, there are many copies that perform just as well. I've had both and could not detect any difference in feel or performance. I can tell you the design is spectacular and I will never own a bike that does not have these grips. 1

I Did a search on google for ISO and just gotta figure out what fits.
Pasta Burner Posted September 8, 2021 Author #9 Posted September 8, 2021 @luvmy40 where do you have the throttle boss positioned? The Avon grips I bought came with it attached but the stock location seems to be too low to be of any use. I’m thinking I should rotate it up so it’s pointing about 45 degrees.
luvmy40 Posted September 8, 2021 #10 Posted September 8, 2021 It's a trial and error kind of thing. I'd say setting the throttle boss at about 10 deg. up from parallel to the ground is good starting point. 1
