Ok so I’ve been seeing a lot of reference to shotgun cleaning and google and ye shall find…I call 7/8 BS on that.  I’ve found one article which is fairly comprehensive yet still leaves me a little lost having minimal carb experience. I’ve found no videos either which I find odd for something that is supposedly a wonder process.  What am I missing? Is this process illegal haha, why so vague?  I even joined a V-Max site looking for more info.

It's pretty simple, actually. Run the carbs dry or drain the bowls. Then, using a syringe fill the carbs to over flowing with the car cleaner of your choice and let them soak as long as you feel is safe based on the aggressiveness of your carb cleaner.

The process is not guaranteed, but it does give you the chance to clean the carbs up internally at least to a small degree without pulling them off the bike.

The biggest problem with this type of passive cleaning is that the carb cleaner can't clean what it doesn't touch. It is absolutely worth a try. It might fix you right up and save many hours of tearing thigs apart and putting them back together.

It is  hit and miss process but well worth trying before removing the carbs. In the early days of carburetor-ed cars about 75% of the cars that came to me for carb overhauls I resolved by just such or similar method. I am sure some shops did the same but still biled for a complete carb overhaul.
