Dutch Navigator Posted July 1, 2022 Author #129 Posted July 1, 2022 Don't get to philosophical, just no milk today! (I prefer 'karnemelk' / 'buttermilch' by the way).
Dutch Navigator Posted July 1, 2022 Author #130 Posted July 1, 2022 We're almost back home from our trip to Austria. Today we left Austria and did a great 10-hour tour in France and Germany. 1 liter gas (0,26 gallon) = $ 2,42 !!!! It's getting an expensive hobby. Tomorrow 300 miles and we're back home.

Sounds really expensive. Last year our prices were around $1.25L, this year $2>$2.25L. Big jump! And it doesn't cost anymore to get it out of the ground. 1
Dutch Navigator Posted July 1, 2022 Author #133 Posted July 1, 2022 Agreed totally. Some companies/people are 'earning' a lot of money.
Dutch Navigator Posted July 4, 2022 Author #134 Posted July 4, 2022 Fuel pump died. De diode (semiconductor) was fried. We've ordered a new pump.
Marcarl Posted July 4, 2022 #135 Posted July 4, 2022 Always something! Anticipation is half the fun I'm told. 1
Dutch Navigator Posted July 6, 2022 Author #136 Posted July 6, 2022 Today we've installed a new fuel pump. The flow of the gas is perfect again. Starting the bike is not. The Venture only starts and runs when we put some gas in de carbs. The flow of the gas to the carbs is good. So we have a job to do this Saturday: getting the carbs off the bike and clean the gas lines. Keep you guys posted!
Marcarl Posted July 6, 2022 #137 Posted July 6, 2022 Might as well clean the whole carb while you are there anyways. After you figure out the first one the rest should be the same.
Dutch Navigator Posted July 13, 2022 Author #139 Posted July 13, 2022 (edited) The renovated carbs are ready to assemble again. Needles, gaskets etc. are new. Steel parts are powder coated and everything looks fine. Fingers crossed for tomorrow! Edited July 13, 2022 by Dutch Navigator

bpate4home Posted July 14, 2022 #141 Posted July 14, 2022 I'm enjoying this and your YouTube posts on it. I'm by no means a mechanic but do tinker with stuff. Sometimes successfully too. 😅 1
Dutch Navigator Posted July 25, 2022 Author #142 Posted July 25, 2022 Well, we had some rough weeks over here in Pays-Bas. Due to my ignorance using 10-year old yellow Aspen 4, the 4 carbs clogged up totally (on the left 'Aspen', on the right fresh '98). We renovated the carbs completely; removed all the parts and frame, cleaned them and ordered some spare parts. With some help of our local hero 'Danny's Motorservice' we put everything together and finally today: white smoke! (not literally.........) This weekend we will post a video with the Yamaha back on the road, exact a year after starting the renovation.
BlueSky Posted July 25, 2022 #143 Posted July 25, 2022 Well now, you forced me to google Aspen 4 to find out what it is. So you made me learn something. 1
Marcarl Posted July 26, 2022 #144 Posted July 26, 2022 So much for saying that a Venture will run on anything, of course being 10 years old shows that the owner is a real, honest to goodness Dutchman. 1
Dutch Navigator Posted July 29, 2022 Author #145 Posted July 29, 2022 First successful ride today! Video will follow this weekend. 1
Dutch Navigator Posted July 30, 2022 Author #146 Posted July 30, 2022 We're missing a part from the water pump cover. Clymer and CSML doesn't show the part on their drawings. Any idea? On the left is our cover. Have a great weekend!
Dutch Navigator Posted July 31, 2022 Author #147 Posted July 31, 2022 (edited) It was a great year working on the Yamaha! Thank you for all the comments, tips, tricks and.....humor! https://youtu.be/xRiDV7FBavw Edited July 31, 2022 by Dutch Navigator 1
luvmy40 Posted July 31, 2022 #148 Posted July 31, 2022 I love it when a plan comes together!!! what did you find out about that "missing" part in the water pump cover? I couldn't find anything on any parts diagram anywhere that showed anything there.
Dutch Navigator Posted July 31, 2022 Author #149 Posted July 31, 2022 Thank you! Without the tube/bolt in the cover, the pump cover will leak between the round plate on the front and the cover housing unfortunately. The round plate looks like an escape route for the coolant when the pressure is getting too high.
ReinyRooster Posted August 3, 2022 #150 Posted August 3, 2022 Beautiful work gentleman....but I still want to know....what is wrong with some good German Schlagermuzik? LOL 1
