Dutch Navigator Posted October 9, 2021 Author Share #27 Posted October 9, 2021 (edited) Episode 5 of our renovation video-series: https://youtu.be/BMC0wVqWmFQ We got some quotes about re-chroming the parts of the Yamaha. Prices varies between $1500 and $2500. That's a lot of money..... We're looking at some other options. Have a safe weekend! Peter After all the work you put into it, would you want to look back and say: we should have!! Don't cheap out now, go the distance!! Of course it depends on whether you plan to keep it or sell it. Sometimes heritage gets in the way.
BlueSky Posted October 9, 2021 Share #29 Posted October 9, 2021 You might want to reconsider using Sintered brake pads for the rear. The RSV rear brakes tend to be on the too powerful side stock. Increasing the rear braking could be making the bike more dangerous to ride.
Dutch Navigator Posted October 9, 2021 Author Share #30 Posted October 9, 2021 We want to keep the bike. We got it for free so investing some money is fine. Thanks for the tip about the rear brakes.
Dutch Navigator Posted October 13, 2021 Author Share #31 Posted October 13, 2021 (edited) Ordered some parts today on Ebay. Lots of spares for these bikes in the USA. Shipment is about $120 to the Netherlands. Parts are still half the price compared to the prices in Europe. Dutch Navigator Posted December 31, 2021 Author Share #48 Posted December 31, 2021 Things slowed down a little bit this winter, but the story continues. New Dunlop 404 tyre arrived (from Spain) and the second one is on it's way. The blue stuff is protecting the white color and can be removed with warm water. All the Tupperware parts are sanded and will primer painted next week.
