Yamaha32088 Posted July 23, 2021 #1 Posted July 23, 2021 I can't seem to find the article I did quite a while back about replacing the U-Joint. I was hoping some people could give me advice or tips for doing this. I already have the swingarm and rubber boot off. I was able to remove two of the clips for the cups that hold the U-Joint to the output shaft yoke and remove them with some tapping so the old U-Joint is off the bike however I don't see an easy way of putting the new U-Joint in. My U-Joint press is way to large to fit in the limited space available.
SpencerPJ Posted July 23, 2021 #2 Posted July 23, 2021 I sometimes struggle getting good search results on this Forum. Maybe Google 'replacing the U-Joint venturerider' There are plenty of links to articles in our Forum. Good Luck!
saddlebum Posted July 23, 2021 #3 Posted July 23, 2021 (edited) I use a socket and wide punch or two sockets one socket that catches the yoke but the cup can fall into the other slightly smaller than the cup and just drive the smaller socket with a hammer, which drives the opposite cup down and into the larger socket on the otheR side of the yoke. Other times I straddle the open jaws of a vice or two blocks of wood on the floor and drive the joint out that way. Edited July 23, 2021 by saddlebum
