Geobob Posted April 2, 2021 #1 Posted April 2, 2021 I was thinking about upgrading my sound system and was wondering what options people might know about. I really want to keep the stock console in place simply because it looks like it belongs. Every aftermarket stereo looks obviously like that. I really only listen to music or maybe starlight radio via my cell phone so all I need is something that can wirelessly connect to my phone. I was thinking maybe someone makes a unit that mounts out of site with not requiring a dash mounting. The other option would be to upgrade the amplifier since it is a stand alone unit. I have replaced the speakers twice now it has not helped enough. I also considered getting a set of rear speakers off an old Kawasaki Voyager. I think they sit right in the luggage rack. Four speakers would help but more watts will likely be required.
saddlebum Posted April 4, 2021 #2 Posted April 4, 2021 (edited) You could look at some of the bluetooth dongles that are available and wire it into the bikes system. May have to include a switch to say switch back and forth between cassette deck and dongle or just transfer the wiring completly from the cassette deck to the dongle. Pasta Burner Posted April 4, 2021 #4 Posted April 4, 2021 I’m in the same boat. I want to keep it as original as possible with hidden / removable upgrades. I’ve been a fan of kicker since my teens, one of these days I’m gonna take it over to the local stereo dealer and work out a plan. But in the meantime I bought a cassette to Bluetooth thing and it works great. The only problem I have is not being able to skip a song cause my phone is in my pocket. But that’s a user issue not hardware. The SAE is already there from the battery tender. I like what he did with the larger speakers there, doesn’t look too out of place. Another reason I’d like to keep the stock unit is I like the handlebar controls and the kid or wife can mute or seek with the passenger control. the venture audio link that @saddlebum posted looks like a win. Gonna have to read more on it. Not expensive either. Edited April 4, 2021 by Pasta Burner
