cowpuc Posted December 31, 2020 #1 Posted December 31, 2020 @Sylvester,, I know you will enjoy this but thought best to start a new thread to show this off!! Getting rid of my shooters and associated ammo to increase my Vette fun substantially (WOWZY,, are guns/ammo sales HOT) worked great! Only problem with selling those shooters that I refused to shoot ammo out of that costs in excess of a dollar a round left a hollow spot in my love for shooting soooooo,,, I had to take a little of the xtra cash I aquired for my Vette fund and scratch that itch. She's a dandy!! 3
luvmy40 Posted December 31, 2020 #2 Posted December 31, 2020 Take down 10/22? I like the butt stock. Looks nice and light. I sold off a couple safe queens to buy my '86 XVZ. Much as I like having nice shooters, I like riding more than looking at the collection pieces. We did just pick up a Keltec Sub2000 in 9mm, multi mag. Haven't gotten it to the range yet and already did a trigger job and swapped out all the replaceable plastic bits with MCARBO up grades. 1

Yep,, you nailed it Rich!! Stainless take down, wayyy cool little shooter. I am not much for safe queens either.. If I cant shoot em and feel good about it I dont have em (well,, within reason,, I do have a few relics around - guns of syntiment if you will).. I am in the process of wrapping up my bucket listing - in search of and building funds for a 67 Big Block Vette so I did off my AR's and ammo of such to assist with the funds BUT I also ran into a fly in the oinment with those AR's I had installed Binary's in and had Drum feed for cause the ammo I was shooting in them (tracers,, lots of tracers and the like) went from 27 cents for my 308 and 18 cents a round for my 556 to $1.30 a round for my 308 and 85 cents each for my 556.. And no way on Gods green earth I could even shoot up the thousands of rounds I had built up knowing the value of the ammo - I am wayyyy to cheap for that nonsense. Fortunately I had grabbed a few thousand rounds for my .22's at 3 cents a round so now, even at current 15 cents a round prices on .22lr I can still feel ok about going out and making the back waters of the river dance with my 10/22. I am in the process of souping it up now. The stock you see on it is very nice,, an AR style. I do have a folding stock coming for it as well as a Binary Trigger (wayyy cool Franklin Armory started making Binary for them!!) and a GSG Drum 110 round drum for it.. I lived my life shooting for accuracy (use to shoot/reload/drink with with the real deal WW2 guys on the range at the gun clubs,, wayyy good memories) and of course hunted deer, bear, pheasant, grouse and LOTS of rabbits with hounds so accuracy was the name of the game.. These days are more about being as close to FULL AUTO as I can while staying legal. Tell you what brother,, if I was wealthy this old boy would own a Tommy, an MG42 belt fed, a BAR and zillions of rounds of ammo for regular everyday fun BUT,, theres that money issue again .. That Kel-Tec sounds like FUN!! Would LOVE to see some pics!! Maybe even a video or two of it in action!! One thing I am discovering about the 10/22,, talk about after market stuff - WOWZY!! Sounds like that Kel-Tec 9mm may fall into that category? Shooter yakking is almost as much fun as scoot jabber! Happy New Year!! The neighborhood here is coming alive with people outside blasting away! Think I will grab something and go at it with them!! Puc Edited January 1, 2021 by cowpuc 1

M&P Mags right now. It can be set up for HK, M&P, Beretta or Sig P320 mags. Not quickly but fairly easily. The Glock mag variants are Glock only. 1
Sylvester Posted January 2, 2021 #8 Posted January 2, 2021 Hey Puc, hope you kept the 1911. I would be lost without mine. Your eternal brother, 1

Your eternal brother, Ohhhh yea my brother, matter of fact, even if I stand alone here in Muskegon Michigan in my endeavor I am starting a new movement and personally declaring January 6th, 2021 our Nations 1st "National Open Carry Day" to give forewarning to any and all Socialist/Communist/BLM/Antifa/Anti 2nd Amendment America freedom haters a taste of what this beat up old geezer see's as the true meaning of "The Right To Keep And Bear" and my 1911 will be found faithfully hanging on my side during that occasion !! Hey Sly,, get this,, I told Tip I may just look around for a Holster maker and see if I can locate someone who produces an old Cowboy rig (you know the type, think Marshall Dillon),, quick draw outfit,, that fits the 1911. Think that would be wayyy cool,, reaching down and tieing that leg string at the bottom with my 1911 hanging there at me.. Your eternal brother right back at cha!! gmarshall Posted January 3, 2021 #10 Posted January 3, 2021 Hey Puc, there's a branch of Cowboy Action Shooting called "Wild Bunch" where instead of single action revolvers they shoot original style 1911's. It may be a good place to find that 1911 holster you're looking for. Check out www.sassnet.com and their vender section. Alias Tex Message 1

cowpuc Posted January 3, 2021 Author #13 Posted January 3, 2021 Oh my gosh,, @gmarshall you nailed it!! Check this out: From this thread at "Sass - Wild Bunch" forums: https://www.sassnet.com/wildbunch/forum/index.php?topic=2567.0 "That deal from J.Frank sounds pretty good. But I do as Abe mentioned. My 1911 fits into several of my SAA holsters, but the one I use is a 20-year-old Mernickle rig. Fits and looks just fine. I finally got some matching mag holder slides made for it, as I had been using vest pockets and some really flimsy home-made holders from dollar store cell phone holders http://sassnet.com/wildbunch/forum/Smileys/default/smiley.gif But I've also noticed, at least around here, that the local matches are letting folks stage their magazines so really you might get away with that for a while.""" Now I wonder if this would not be PERFECT!! Anyone ever tried such an idea with a 1911? https://www.ebay.com/itm/NEW-44-45-Cal-Tooled-Holster-Gun-Belt-Drop-Loop-LEATHER-Western-RIG-SASS-Cowboy/312589023885?_trkparms=aid%3D1110006%26algo%3DHOMESPLICE.SIM%26ao%3D1%26asc%3D20200520130048%26meid%3D552f13259732413193ab258d6cd8e8c1%26pid%3D100005%26rk%3D3%26rkt%3D12%26mehot%3Dpf%26sd%3D282959375876%26itm%3D312589023885%26pmt%3D1%26noa%3D0%26pg%3D2047675%26algv%3DSimplAMLv5PairwiseWebWithDarwoV3BBEV2b%26brand%3DHandmade&_trksid=p2047675.c100005.m1851
gmarshall Posted January 3, 2021 #14 Posted January 3, 2021 Here's another idea for you. Trinidad state junior college has a gunsmithing degree program and is part of the NRA summer gunsmithing program. Last summer I attended a week long class on action jobs on Single action revolvers. They also have a class on leather holster making. What would be better than making your own 1911 holster? 1

I am 100% tracking with you @gmarshall,, matter of fact - a few years ago before my body decided to go on an extended vacation I would be allllll over that! Also,, matter of fact, I use to play around some with leather stuff,,, even to the point of soaking those great big doggy chew bones of folded leather in water to soften em up to repurpose the leather for making snow shoes and stuff, yeahhhh,,,, sounds like fun Marsh.. The only problem for me is my wrench spinning,, fun with my hands days are pretty much over. I am one of those lop eared varmints who got blessed with Dupundrens.. I had my right hand repaired a few years ago with pretty good recovery all except of the part where I can feel anything - gotta really watch carefully to get even a 15mm socket stuck on a 1/2 drive ratchet to stick to my hand nowadays.. My left hand is even more numb than the right one that they repaired and is pretty much closed up and useless - still waiting for Michigans Govna to release us for non life threatening surgerys so I can get my left one hacked on. What I will probably do is wait for the small shops to open up, pick up a toy full sized 1911 and find me sa cowboy rig somewhere to test the fit.. I do REALLY appreciate the thought though Marsh!! Thats a good one!! Puc
gmarshall Posted January 4, 2021 #16 Posted January 4, 2021 Holy Cow, that looks painful! As I will reach my 70th decade this year, what they say is really true. "Getting older is not for sissies". Hang tough Pal. Gary 1
bpate4home Posted January 4, 2021 #17 Posted January 4, 2021 Man, that's after surgery? That looks my left hand after a run in with a table saw and one of those wobble style dado blades around 2001. I still believe I'll live to be 149 and shot by a jealous husband in the back as I'm running away. LOL Gotta have goals in life. 1

WRIDR Posted January 5, 2021 #19 Posted January 5, 2021 God bless, Puckster. YOU are one of the toughest sumb*tches we've ever known. Cannot imagine typing these posts with one hand, AND the other one hacked to pieces like that!! Keep on keeping on, Brudder. We are truly humbled by your accomplishments. GREAT BIG Hugs, WRIDR 1

My hand had been closed up for so long that the skin could not be stretched out for stitching. I ended up with the coolest open wounds I have ever seen! You ever see the show Terminator with Arny? Looking into my hand reminded me a lot of one of those robots,, I could watch the tendons pull and muscles work right there in front of me.. It made Tippy gag a little and did make me light headed some what BUT,, not that dissimalar from the operating parts of Deer I/we had processed thru the years so it wasnt that bad. I never even had heard of open wound healing before that happened to me. Had to completely dismantle the bandaging 3 times a day and run water over the gaping holes you see.. It took about a week but tiny little bubbles of new growth started taking place right over the muscles/bone/tendons that were exposed.. They looked like tiny little fish eggs.. As time went on skin formed and now look at what is left (see pic).. The creation of our bodies and its ability to heal is down right amazing @bpate4home!!! I just took the pic,, this is what those wounds look like today!! 1
WildBill1 Posted January 6, 2021 #21 Posted January 6, 2021 That is just simply amazing “Puc”, you are a “Tuff Old Bird”. Hope to meet you some day.

THAT is GORGEOUS Roller!! @slowrollwv,,, is your Remington one of those R1's that is double stacked in the mag?? Shootin from the hip here ( ) ,, it seems I remember seeing a Remington 1911 once in a Shooting magazine that was a high cap,, not one like yours was it?? Chuck,, did I ask you that once before?? Tweeks aint the @only one slipping gears these days,, I may have lol.. What dah heck brother,, its winter,, lets see her innards.... Still yakking 1911's,, hey ya lop eared varmint,,, you and that Sly varmint ( @Sylvester ) and maybe even @Flyinfool and @Condor,,, you varmints seem fairly knowledgable about 1911's.. Take a look at the front of my beat up old 1911,,, notice the National Match # on the bushing - that mean anything to you? How about the Bo-Mar sites? I had a gunsmith evaluate mine for value recently (was told its value was under $300 by someone interested in it a while back so I took er in for a second opinion) who made some interesting points about it (gunsmiths tend to be deep thinkers,, at least around here). I have friends who stopped shooting with me and my '11 cause the little shooter is possessed,, thats right,, it has a mind of its own and that mind makes it never miss,, it is VERY accurate even out past 75 yards and I shared that experience with the smith... He said it was obvious that some very knowledgable individual had hand fit her vital organs. There is more to the story but I will just leave it at that and see what you lop eared shooter loving varmints think... Thoughts?
