What have you replaced the vacuum plugs that you remove to sync. you carbs?    I've bought some at the auto parts store, but they don't hold up to the heat for very long.    I've made some with vacuum hose with the end plugged, but I see that I need to improve them because the plug I used seems to leak a tiny bit.     What have you used?

Last time I needed to replace mine I went with these,  https://www.siriusconinc.com/pro-detail.php?pid=&product_id=766

I see they are listing them as out of stock with no replenishment date as of it but they have held up nicely to the heat and are made in Japan. There might be other sources out there also but I am not sure of where.

Good luck

I just stuck on  short pieces of vacuum hose and plugged the open end with a tight fitting  steel ball which I got from smashing apart on old bearing. the ball has to be large enough to not go into the vacuum tube but small enough to fit tight in the hose. Mine have been on the bike for 7 years now with no issue.

Thanks!

Saddlebum--The steel ball in the piece of vacuum hose is great.    I did something similar, but I need another one and I'm not sure what I used is sealing 100%

Cimmer--After I looked up the plugs you used, I did a search for the part number they listed and found lots of places that had them.     On E-bay a set of 4 was listed for $5.00 with free shipping.      The bad thing is they're coming from Taiwan but I'm OK with the delay for shipping.

Thanks again....

Having trouble with the link. All I get is the main page.

Can you forward the product info, Rick?

Thanks

Hi David, go to their website and look for this. CARBURETOR HOLDER PORT CAP RUBBER PLUGS - CAPS
Part# 11-4972 x 4  (you get 4 caps)

right now they do show out of stock on them with no restocking date shown.

You might also try this link.  https://www.siriusconinc.com/search_result.php?search=search&make=2&model=XVZ1300&part=All&partno=&x=48&y=15

it shows you everything they have for the XVZ1300 Ventures.

I hope that helps.

I just use a couple short pieces of vacuum hose and jam either the ball from an old ball bearing I cut apart or a bucking rivet to plug the end. Just make sure the ball is big enough so as not to enter the tube. You can also cut the UN-threaded part of a bolt into tiny plugs. You should also be able to get caps from any automotive store as they are used on gas engines quite a bit.

The actual caps are still available from partzilla, or any other Yamaha part supplier. $3.47 on partzilla. I just replaced all mine.
