I recently bought a 2018 f350 power stroke platinum discover here, and am in the process of having it deleted and tuned.

I will be running an S&B CAI, 5" Flopro straight pipe, EGR delete (obvs), and PPEI ezlynk 2.0 tunes.

Those are the only mods I plan on doing, so just wondering what the safest HP tune would be? I hope to run the 60HP but if a 30 would be ideal I would be fine with that too. Not really deleting or tuning to be cool and run big numbers, just want something reliable

Thank you in advance!

which engine:think:

I run the old 6lt close to 400k klm.... All stock accept for updated injectors & FICM (also upgraded to 07). My numbers as is run nearly matching @ 500 HP & Torq.

If I increased the exhaust pipe Dia. I would loose turbo boost causing the output numbers to drop. Yes I know lots do it but, you then need to compensate for pressure signals.

If reliability is a concern (is the case for me) then I would keep the mods to a bare minimum at least on the 18, 6.7 lt. @ 450 HP and near 1000 ft. lbs. of torque. That truck is built for torque, and remember a pickup with that torque can and will leap out from under you at almost any highway speed, they are quite light in the rear when not towing!

Patch,

I also have an 07 F-250 with a 6.0.   Mine is Studed, the cylinders o-ringed, EGR blocked.   It came with an Edge and I run it in the 65 hp mode when not towing.      Please explain why you say that you'll have less boost with a larger exhaust system.   Mine has a 5" with a muffler.   My Turbo is stock and when starting up a grade pulling my 10,000# 5th wheel I will see as much as 28# boost before it downshifts.      BTW, I tow my camper with the 25hpsetting on the Edge. The way I look at it, the exhaust flow through the turbo is what turns it.    When you have a larger free flowing exhaust system, there will be less restriction from the downpipe back, and therefore the flow through the turbo will be increased.

Well just top of my head haven't looked up the 07 specs... 1st I think that model rind twin T's so yes you will boost quicker or should. Flows are difficult to explain, we must first conciser volume (s) and there are many changes on the way to the turbo, velocities also change, that is part and parcel to the driving force applied to the turbine. Velocity is tricky as this has much to do with shape. The turbos are computer controlled so we need to know what pressure data the ecm is expecting to read, at what throttle position, temperature,,,, with confirmation from the monitors it will then continuously adjust trims.

I pretend to be a chip junky or know there brands and simplified settings but I do know that they have programming that twerks the ecm into running outside of factory perimeters. I am not suggesting that that is a bad thing for some that have specific requirements. But the 25 hp or 65 hp means nothing to me outside of it reads like a setting? For example, more boost more fill volume more fuel; HP should be fallowing as the amount of pressure above the piston increases, then so does the applied torque to the crank, then HP must be going up, right.

Mine is Studed, the cylinders o-ringed, EGR blocked.  Now not sure why its studded because my understanding is that that was corrected in the second half of 04. In 05 (going by memory) the introduced the small twins, and yes they had a whole mess of egr cooler issues which the early 6 lt didn't have.

A bit more: the 07 FICM is the last year that fits the 03/04 and is the one I chose for mine and, it does measure exhaust pressures. That is a linked chain of events.

I pull my 5th into job sites where control is very important; in most cases I maintain that in high but if I want more spooling I flip it to low, I run the large veritable vain turbo. (my 5th brings me to the edge of GVW) When on the highway say around 70 mph I am just costing, but I am in tow mode meaning forth, multiply that by something like 3 maybe 4 due to the transmission output. If that helps make sense of it.

These  6 lt's are made to haul, running them just above idle is just going to stuff them up. Are you using a phone app to monitor?

You asked about the exhaust: this is something we older gearheads run into in every forum regardless of engine type. I don't argue the point anymore.

Sometimes I use my smart phone with the TORQUE app, but usually just the display on my Edge controller.    Usually the Edge displays Engine Oil Temp., Coolant Temp., Trans. Temp., and Exhaust gas temp.    There is an added thermocouple in the near the discharge of the left exhaust manifold.

You're right about the different settings on the controller.    They call that tune the 65HP tune, but it doesn't give you exactly 65 HP.     The place that did my engine (Power Stroke Secialists) also installed the Edge and modified the software.    It not only increases the engine output, but also modifies the transmission parameters.     I run it in the 65HP when I'm not towing because the transmission shifts later and firmer with the other settings because they are intended for towing.     When I got my trans. rebuilt, they beefed it up by adding a mutliple clutch torque converter and also increased the number of plates for the various gears.    They modified the programming in the Ford transmission module and it shifted WAY too hard.       I was able to go into my Edge and soften the shifts up a bit.   They're still real firm, but not as abusive.

Thanks for the share! Yup those transmissions are pricy to play with. Mine has lots of miles on the original but frequent oil changes with only Ford oil.

I get the clutch plate add in's and the shifts are a hardware setup now, yes you can soften a touch thru the program but the setup or valve body will be switching at a higher pressure right lifting/engaging  the Band quicker... Everything is a trade off
