DP57 Posted September 11, 2020 #1 Posted September 11, 2020 Anybody put one of these on? Looks like you have to drop the radiator in order to hook the grill over the pin? I see where the pin on top of the radiator goes up into the rubber grommets. Have to disconnect the hoses?
sanderjack Posted September 16, 2020 #2 Posted September 16, 2020 I have put mine on without disconnecting hoses. It is a pain but it can be done. Patience! You can tap that radiator and put a hole in it!
N3FOL Posted September 17, 2020 #3 Posted September 17, 2020 There are a lot of aftermarket grill guards out there for the 2nd gens. It might be an easier install, if you still can find a genuine Yamaha grill guard for sale. I am also in search of one. [emoji40] Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
DP57 Posted September 18, 2020 Author #4 Posted September 18, 2020 Ended up using a Dremel to slot the hole in the grill guard just enough to push it on to the pin on the radiator. Drilled a small hole on each side of the slot to use a tie to wrap behind the pin to keep it secure. Can't see the tie. Don't like "modifying" parts to make them work but seemed my only choice. It's on, looks good, mission accomplished.
