Ky. Rider Posted March 2, 2007 #1 Posted March 2, 2007 Will a battery tender that kicks itself out when the battery is charged (green light/red light) damage a battery if left on 2-3months? I've had one hooked up to my RSV 2 gen. since December and have heard different opinions. What is your experience? Thanks and happy scooting to us all soon with spring on the way.
Mean Dog Posted March 2, 2007 #2 Posted March 2, 2007 Bill, I know somone will jump in here and answer your question correctly. I don't have a battery tender brand but, I do have some cheap units I keep on both my bikes and my garden tractor that I bought from Lowe's. I leave them on all the time when I am not riding and so far I haven't had any problems at all! Dog
Yammer Dan Posted March 2, 2007 #3 Posted March 2, 2007 All I have is the cheap Harbor Freight ones and they work great!!
Freebird Posted March 2, 2007 #4 Posted March 2, 2007 I keep my Battery Tender on the bike all the time. Routine...when I pull into the garage, I plug in the Battery Tender. My current battery is a bit over 3 years old now and going strong.
Black Ice Posted March 2, 2007 #5 Posted March 2, 2007 I keep both my bikes on battery tenders all the time too and no problem. A regular charger will cook the battery cause it doesn't know they are charged but you probably knew that.
