jryan Posted July 2, 2020 #1 Posted July 2, 2020 Can the pilot mixture screw brass caps be removed without removing tank/carbs? I see the caps & can get a long screwdriver in there to adjust the screws, but caps are still installed. Cant get any leverage to pop them off. Just wondering what the trick is. I dont have a 12" needle nose to grab it with.
cami Posted July 2, 2020 #2 Posted July 2, 2020 One method to remove caps or plugs on pilot screws is to VERY CAREFULLY drill a small hole in the cap or plug so you can start a sheet metal screw into the hole. Using a long screwdriver you can tighten the screw which will back the cap or plug out of the carb body. I am not familiar with your bike's configuration as I have a 1999 RSV. On other bikes I have used this system with excellent results. You may have to remove the carbs to get good access. Good Luck Miike
Freebird Posted July 2, 2020 #3 Posted July 2, 2020 I've always been able to pop them off pretty easily with a long slender screwdriver. Can't usually find them afterwards but I never put them back on anyway.
