In Hong Kong, they're having pro-Democracy demonstrations, while here in the US, they're demonstrating in an attempt to move toward Socialism.

You can't make this stuff up.:nanner:

Yahhh, people are never happy,, when we are poor then we want to be rich, and when we are rich then we have to worry over our money, if we are married we can complain and if we are single we wonder why, if we have a bike we want a car, and if we have a car we are jealous of the one who has a bike, if we are employed we think the business owner makes too much and if we are a business owner we wonder why we aren't just employed, need I go on?

I agree with those in HC though, but then my question is, are we getting the whole story or just what the NEWS thinks we should / want to look at.

While I agree with you mostly, I have only one discrepancy. I have a bike, I just want to ride it more :Venture: My truck is a 2003 F150 sport. Not looking to replace it until it dies. Only put about 3 - 5K miles on it a year but ~14K (mostly commute to work) on the bike. Still need to ride more LOL.

As far as the news. They only show whatever is in their agenda and will make them more money. Like Ferguson. There is a reason why there were no charges Civil or Criminal. Public record of trial is available but you never heard anything otherwise in the media.

Or maybe its because whether you are under a socialist Government or Democratic government it still boils down to how Fair those who run the country treat its citizens. Some Americans for example think Canada is a socialist country but we are not. We for the most part are a Democracy just like the US. However certain rights do differ and some governing rules do differ. Now there are Countries who truly do have a socialist government but still exercise a free vote and some in cases are run better than some democratic countries and their are some socialist countries that are not run as well as some democratic countries. You have people in the US that wish your country was more like Canada and we have people in Canada that wish Canada was more like the US.

Then you have the people who want a Socialist government, but they are only looking at Socialist countries that are well run were health care and a comfortable retirement is for the most part somewhat universal and poverty is in the very low numbers and people have the same freedoms as a democratic country. But like democratic countries not all Socialist countries are ideal. Again it boils down to by who and how a country is run, whether it be by a governing body or by the wealthy Which ever the case may when a society is unhappy they look to the alternative but almost always look at the example of a well run country and fail to look at the countries were the same political system is not working to the benifit of all its citizens versus working for a select privileged few.

In a nut shell the grass is always greener on the other side, just ask any cow.

Most if not all of the above posts and replies are pretty much correct. Most if not all of our problems start with who we elect and how we continually support them as they do things that do not HELP THE PEOPLE. They help themselves first, big businesses second. Our stimulus for small business based on their definitions was a catastrophic failure here in Maine, and I dont mean that with any degree of sarcasm. The number of permanently shuttered and cleared out businesses is at the least appalling. Now down to the real issue and I have only one. Its personal. It is at the least half of how I became what is called a door buster. I didnt know tis term even exsisted until In my mid 40s.

EDUCATION. EDUCATION EDUCATION. The United States for a long time enjoyed the number 1 slot and close to it for a long time some 40 or 50 years. The more politics became involved the more it was cut butchered hampered etc. A lot like police forces with 2 wierd differences and similarities. Both of them have a pay that sucks for what they do. Teachers face crazy budget cuts and are expected to excel, LEO have suck pay and departments budgets are through the roof and likely to drop after current fallouts.

Why are we Killing the educational systems and why do we not treat Police forces like a business when It Fact its supposed to be a life saver ? Ok Now Im Taking a 90degree left turn on half flat front tire at 50mph wait for it ,,,, wait for it .....

Better educated people dont flood the legal system with ignorance and they dont over work the legal system. Well educated police forces give us better service. Maintain a higher level of respect among the populace they police.

Yeah yeah I know whats all that got to do with socialism vrs democracy?

With out current standards or either, it wont matter which system we have if the people are stilled all fugged up and ignorant.

Door Buster, the term used to describe the first minority hired by a company in a non entry level position especially in the south. also called a Tokie. Jeezes, who knew... Ok I got my popcorn, Have at it!!

It all boils down to economics. Whatever the ruling party is without a strong middle class with disposable income their economy will eventually tank.

I think the grass has been pretty "green" right where we are.

The US and it's capitalist economy and it's representative republic form of gubment has not only lifted the US to the top of the game, but it's lifted the entire world up along with it.

Are we somewhat Imperialist....sure....is there ALL KINDS of inequality...sure...unfairness...of course.....racism, sexism, and all the other ism's.......yup......it's part of the human condition.

But, as they say, let's not let the good be the enemy of the perfect.....and we're pretty derned good.

The US is the place the downtrodden flock to....let's not turn it into the sort of place they're fleeing; which seems to be what these "protesters" want to do.

I guess that if I want to conserve the greatness that is the US...that makes me a conservative.

I'm proud of my country, ...I feel truly blessed to have been born here...and I'll support the values and ideals this country was founded on 'till I die.

God Bless the USA !!!
