got the itch again for a new wing. made the mistake of letting my wife sit on the back of a new one, and she said it was sooo comfortable. unfortionate for me, lol. anyway what does it mean when you start looking at accessory catalogs for goldwings is this a bad sign. the worst part is linda is looking at them with me. could my vstar have that bad of passenger acommodations? i sure hope so. oh well i'll just keep on dreaming. did get my credit approved for one just to be on the safe side. ya never know when i might have to scratch the itch. :cool10::cool10: :)

I don't think I'm that far behind you!:whistling: I love my RSV..but....at some point I will want a new bike. Depending on what, or if ever, Yamaha does to the Venture, I know I'll will at least be test driving a wing.

Guys:7_6_3[1]:

A few years back you would have neeever caught me on a wing. I had a bad wreck and totaled my V-Star, a friend told me to "Just test ride one!" I did and rode it home. The Wing is the best ride I've ever had. I still want a Royal Star Tour, But the Wing stays in the stable.

Got my new Wing this past week, and all I can say is "GREAT" !! After having two RSVs I was a little hesitant to go to the different riding position but rode for 6 hours yesterday and had absolutely no problem. It's smooth, it's quiet, it's so comfortable, it's got plenty of power and I absolutely love it. Only problem is I have to work and can't ride as much as I want to.

Don't get me wrong, I think the RSV is a great bike but I was ready for a change and I ain't looking back.

If you like them, and your copilot likes it I say go for it NOW !!!

Good luck !!

Yep been there done that. Peg sat on the Goldwing and the rest is history. She loves the seating and I Love the handling. We bought the basic Goldwing package dint want the payments to be too high. We will add the CB before the Eureka Springs meet. We went to my familys get together yesterday and I asked Peg which bike she wanted to ride?GoldWing or Venture. Peg said she will not ride the Venture on long rides anymore.

We love the Venture but the Wing offers more room and full back suport for Peggys back which is the main thing to me right now!.Giving Peggy the best ride - Goldwing won it hands down. After installing the Highway Pegs on the Wing I have no trouble going all day if need be, best ride I had in a very long time.

Bill go for it if thats what you want besides you need to make Momma happy too!!!

Not a fan of the wing look. My wife has already TOLD me that when the time comes for the 05 to go, it's probably gonna be an Ultra Classic. Not sure when that will be, but I don't know if I'll want to keep 2 bikes in the stable.

why is it that the 2nd Gen guys are going to the wing thing , 2nd Gens too slow? :stirthepot:I sold my wing to get my 87 VR that i like much better and it's faster too. The new wings look like a car but only with two wheels. Just kidding guys, each to there own, wings are ok just not for me . The bars are too close for me, felt like they were in my chest. Anyway go for it and enjoy the new ride.

Just got back from Arkansas. Linda, on her 05 GW and me on the one I bought just before leaving, had a great time. The GW is a great bike, but so the the Venture and the RSTD. My back and shoulders feel better arfter putting in 4-500 miles on the RSTD than on the GW, but my but feel better with the GW. I love both bikes, but I think one will have to go. Don't know which one yet.

For those that like the GW, great!!! For those that like the Venture/RSTD great also!!!!! Just be sure you all keep hanging on to this site. It is the best!!!!!!!!!

Bill, you're starting to sound like an old woman.:crackup: Saw one of your posts just a couple of days ago and you said, "Man there ain't no bike better than mine, best bike I've ever owned, wouldn't trade it for anything.":bang head: :bang head::smash2:

Next thing you know, you'll be looking for a moped to beat the high cost of gas!!!:buttkick::buttkick::buttkick: Come on Bill, make up your mind!! :rotfl::rotfl:

My wife likes the comfort on our RSV and recently saved it from me putting it on the chopping block. I think if I get her on a Wing, she'll be sold BUT she's wanting to learn how to ride. If she does, it's a Kawasaki Vulcan 500 for her and a Honda ST1300 for me, if she doesn't want to learn I think my 07 is being traded in next season for either the Wing or the Triumph Rocket Touring if I'm feeling a little adventerous. I'm hoping she learns to ride, I REALLY want the ST1300.

Speaking with my father-in-law a little over a year ago I told him that I would wait a few more years while I paid down the house before I bought a touring bike. He replied that as much as his daughter and I loved to ride and if we could afford it, don't wait! We have no idea what our health will be like a few years.

Two months later, I purchased my 05 RSV... and I don't regret it one bit.

Scratch the itch if you can afford it. Don't live life leaving unfulfilled dreams.

Man if that's all it will take to get Linda on the long runs with you, what are you waiting for. Get off that fat wallet of yours buy it. Unless of course you were planning on leaving all your money to your Venture Rider buddies. In that case, never mind.

The wing is a great bike. I love my 05. But, I think a new model is coming out in 2010 if you can wait.

I sure hope you are right! If a new, updated Wing comes out, the prices will fall on the 1800's and maybe I can upgrade to one!

Faster? Must be an older wing a 1500 maybe. I have a 1990 VR and my buddy has a 2004 1800 GW I have ridden both. The GW is faster lots of extra power. I like my 1990 better though just wish they would come out with a new version of the 1st Gen for 2009.

I used to have an "old" Wing and it was a good bike that I picked up for 1200 bucks and it served me well while my kids were growing up and I couldn't afford a newer bike.

But I don't get this Love Fest with the GW on a RSV forum... I know they're faster.. then why is it every Wing I see on the road is riding like Gramma Moses.. More Comfortable?? Not for me... The Ol'Lady maybe.. But I'm the one doing 30K miles a year.. she does maybe 5K.

Hey to each his own and I'm not gonna knock another man's ride.. But it sounds like some of you guys are trying to convince yourselves that a Wing is better... Cuz if you're trying to convince me you're wasting your breath.

If your over 6' you will regret getting an Ultra, I got rid of mine after it beat me up going to Daytona Beach. Picked up the Venture to replace it and never looked back.

Although I have a Heritage in the stable also, for those short rides. Just couldnt give up that sound.

Ride on!

Reason I bought the Wing is due to my wifes back!!! The Wing gives a full back suport for my wife and thats the main reason, yes we Love the Venture as well but it is some what top heavy for me and my knees to where the Wing is more balanced. If it was not for my wifes back the Venture would be in our garage. I ride the 83 Beast to work every night, but there are times I need to take break and use the Wing to rest my knees but the beast is staying in my garage for sure. To each his own for what motorcycle he or she wants... I donot care what ride you have just as long you feel good and have fun ridding!!!

That's my feeling as well. Tested an Ultra and a Wing but found the Venture best suited for my long frame.

Since getting my 86 VR last year I love riding a big touring bike! But I know at some point I will need to get something newer. I would love to stay with Yamaha, but the new Harley style isn't for me. I sat on a new Wing, but didn't like the position. BAsed on what has been said here, maybe I need to either rent one or get a dealer to let me ride one for more than a few minutes.

I would love it if Yamaha would bring out a new VR with a similar but updated style. Why do the same Harley look that everyone else has? Keep the 1300 but make it FI and get more MPG. I don't need more than the 97 hp my 23 year old bike makes! I want more MPG with gas going past $4 now. The BMW K1200LT is also on my radar, but they are also not quite comfortable for me. My 86 VR fits me perfect! Maybe I just need to spend about $5000 and have it totally and completely rebuilt (can I get it done for that?) and keep riding it.

haven't really noticed a lovefest for a goldwing on this forum. never met a bike i did'nt like, thats why i have a few of them laying around. probably no one on here is a bigger bike fanatic than me. i do bikes twenty four hours a day. a wing is better in alot of ways and not as good in some ways. i just can't handle the top heavy weight of the royalstar anymore so i need a luxury ride that has a lower center of gravity. the wing has it. if i get a wing i will still be true to yamaha i still have three in the stable. in fact i'm true to all brands as long as they have 2 wheels. and last time i checked this site is open to all brands. i did'nt really hear anyone trying to convince anyone that a wing was better than a venture. :sign29::2133: ps. you want to ride with grandma moses on a wing follow wingman through the twisties in georgia. he's a great guy he'll stop and wait for ya once in awhile. :rasberry:
