I like how it looks but there is about 1/4 inch or less gap without the windshield.

Just wondering if anyone had a poor man tip on getting rid of the gap.

Thanks for your time !

Get a super-low dark tinted shiled to be there but not really be there?

I rode once without mine when it was about 98F on the way over to color match the paint. It killed my eyes as I wasn't wearing goggles.

When I had my fairing appart, I went for a test drive and WOW there was a LOT of wind pressure on my face and chest eve at low speeds.

i love my big windshield!!!!

Same here. I took mine off for a day and rode into work.........my neck was so sore the next day I could hardly stand it. W/S went right back on! I've gotten spoiled to the windshield.

But to answer the question, if I were to go the no W/S route, I would get a very short, dark tinted WS, like street glide short.

I do, in fact the only time I put the windshield on my bike, (05 RSTD) is bad weather or distance. I love the wind in my face.

The way I see it, that is the way it was meant to be.

But-----to each his own.

I did when I was younger and cool. Now I'm just older and wiser. You don't know what bugs are unless you live in my part of the country, N.E. Arkansas. Drove through Georgia and Tennessee last year and only cleaned my windshield just before I crossed the mighty Mississippi. By the time I covered the last 70 miles to my home, you couldn't find a bug free spot on it. Besides the bugs, after having neck surgery, I wouldn't try it now no matter what. Too much strain on the neck.

Have had mine off a few times, didn't last long, couldn't take it. My neck and shoulder hurt all the time, and that just aggravated it. In fact, when I bought my Boulevard, it was the base model, and the windshield was the first thing I bought for it. I envy all of you that can ride without one, but my shield is the only reason I can ride, and be comfy doing it. If I want to feel the wind, I just lift my head up a little and there it is.

In fact, I have been checking out the windshield with the vent in it like the Wings have. should be like A/C on a bike I would think

I just cut mine windshield from 163/4'' to 14'' Real nice, don;t like looking though it,now my eyes are just over it. took 30 mins & $ 20. Got to have a windshield Bad neck & back.

Get some dark plexiglass and make/have made a short shield. I made one when I first bought the bike because I did nor like looking through the windshield. I liked it but one ride and Rose said "put the big shield back on now!". I now have the Cusom Chrome shorter wider shield from JCW and it works for both of us. Rod

Back in 1969 I got hit square in the chest, by a Really Big Bug, litteraly knocked the wind out of me. I managed to pull over, stop the bike, then dropped it, then sat on the ground for a minute before I could start breathing again!!

Anyway, since then, I use a windshield !!

A friend of mine was rideing West on I-80 thru Nebraska, headed for Denver, back around 1978. His group were rideing old British bikes. ( not to fast ) They were Passed bye a Sport Bike, going Extremely Fast, as he told me.

About 20 miles further West, they saw a Bike parked on side of the road, ahead of them. Rider was Sitting on the ground Sumped over. So his group pulled up.

The bike was parked on side stand, the Rider was sitting cross legged next to the bike, helmet and gloves removed , and head slumped over his legs, he was not moveing.

Soon an HP Unit stopped, examined the guy, called Medics. HP officer took the guys pulse, it was non existant.

When medic arrived, upon further examination, they found Blood from one eye.

Closer examination, showed signs of Insect Remains around one eye.

OK, End of Long Boreing story is that a BEE, had penetrated his Eyeball, and entered his brain tissue and killed him. He apparently died some amount of time after parking and getting off of the bike.

He had a helmet on, but No Windshield, or Face shield, or safty glass's.

I rest my case, for the value of a Windshield and eye protection.

Guess it all depends where you live, I rode my first 37 years without a windshield, I always wore glasses though. I would never put a windshield on any of my bikes. No rocks, stones, or bees, did have a dbl sized mattress come at me on the Baltimore beltway, but I doubt a windshield woulda helped. Then I got that 1st gen and got spoiled by that big ole fairing and shield, must say I prefer a windshield now, but my other bike still dont have one. Craig
