can any one help me with the upgrade to R1 brakes and what i need to do this thanks

You will need:

A set of R6 calipers, '03'04 fit but there may be other years that fit as well.

Either an R6 front master cylinder or a Gen1 Mk2 front master cylinder.

I highly recommend Skydoc_17's delinking brake line kt but it may not be an absolute necessity.

 

The calipers bolt right on. the rest of the job is self explanatory.

To use the R6/R1 calipers one must have 1986 or newer forks.

I stand corrected. For some reason I thought it was only the 83 that needed different forks.
