BokoFF Posted May 8, 2020 #1 Posted May 8, 2020 (edited) Hello comrades! Today I made such a table and was at a loss! Why, with a weak engine, did Yamaha Royal Star Classic (97-2001) make such a transmission with high gears ??? After all, it is clearly hard for him to drag it. It seems that Ventura has already fixed it, and her engine is more powerful. Now it’s clear why the Royal Star Classic does not go as it should. Strangled from all sides, both in the engine and in the transmission. There is an option to install a reverse gear from V-max, but it has 1 tooth less, the speed sensor working from these teeth can begin to lie in a smaller direction. BokoFF Posted May 8, 2020 Author #2 Posted May 8, 2020 I did some calculations at 3000 rpm. Take a look. With a weaker engine, the RSC should give more power to move. It is not clear why this is done.
BokoFF Posted May 8, 2020 Author #3 Posted May 8, 2020 When installing a reverse gear from V-Max to Royal Star Classic, transmission performance is similar to Royal Star Ventura. Is it justified?
BlueSky Posted May 8, 2020 #4 Posted May 8, 2020 The Harleys had 75hp and that was what they were trying to copy would be my guess.
Patch Posted May 8, 2020 #5 Posted May 8, 2020 Enjoyable to see your approach but, you need consider more of the picture then just the outcome of that measurement. You need take into account the fact that one less will equal more rpm. Try this, disconnect the two components from the layouts above, then look for what would be the individual demand challenges? So I am not going to dump the answer on your laps because you are a puzzle solver so cause and effect work that thru then see if that works out to gains or losses,,,, Let us know what you find
cowpuc Posted May 8, 2020 #6 Posted May 8, 2020 Boko,, here is a free tool for your tool box that, as I, I have a hunch you will really enjoy!! https://www.blocklayer.com/rpm-gear-bikes.aspx Not long ago, I posted a thread about this tool and that read is found here,, thought you might get a kick out of it too.. Here is a link to that thread: https://www.venturerider.org/forum/showthread.php?144839-Something-refreshing-to-think-about-Wayy-cool-FREE-tool-for-that-tool-box!!
BokoFF Posted May 9, 2020 Author #7 Posted May 9, 2020 Really a great tool, it is a pity that it is more for a chain drive. Thank!
cowpuc Posted May 9, 2020 #8 Posted May 9, 2020 Really a great tool, it is a pity that it is more for a chain drive. Thank! I just take the gear ratios of the shaft drive unit and convert that ratio to a chain drive sprocket combination that matches the shaft drive ratio I have to work with. Then I plug in those chain drive ratios into the equation on the site requiring those figures and BINGO = works perfect!! Been doing this for a good while.. Remember BOKO,, necessity is the mother of invention .. By the way,, works just as well with belt drive too.. Just have to know the OEM ratios and your off to the races,, those ratios are available on any worthy spec sheet..
