bongobobny Posted May 18, 2008 #3 Posted May 18, 2008 Yah, seems to be working so far... It only locked up on me once so far trying to read a post.
Rocket Posted May 18, 2008 #4 Posted May 18, 2008 Yah, seems to be working so far... It only locked up on me once so far trying to read a post. I had to use the address in the message box, to get here. So propagation is not yet complete.
Freebird Posted May 18, 2008 Author #5 Posted May 18, 2008 It just propagated to me a few minutes ago so at least I know it is happening.
Freebird Posted May 18, 2008 Author #6 Posted May 18, 2008 By the way, I have to say that from here, the performance of the server is much better.
lonestarmedic Posted May 18, 2008 #10 Posted May 18, 2008 Kinda testy ain't we!!!! Can you read me now? JB
mini-muffin Posted May 18, 2008 #11 Posted May 18, 2008 Wow that was like waiting for a baby. So propagating seems like labor. Are ya feeling better now Don? Margaret
lonestarmedic Posted May 18, 2008 #12 Posted May 18, 2008 Don - I erased all cookies etc. Then used Google to find the site. Booked marked from there and hit all sorts of links. Seems to be very fast and stable. Tried my cell phone connection and I can see a visible difference. Good job and the double move. Thanks for all your work. JB
93 venture Posted May 18, 2008 #13 Posted May 18, 2008 This works a lot faster, i have turtle net and i can tell this is working lots better than the other one ever did, Thanks Don you rock!
juggler Posted May 19, 2008 #14 Posted May 19, 2008 Didn't we just do this last week? I'm either off my rockers (again) or this is the second server move in two weeks.
Yama_Rider Posted May 19, 2008 #15 Posted May 19, 2008 seems to work just fine here in California Peter lightning fast
hipshot Posted May 19, 2008 #16 Posted May 19, 2008 i never even noticed that a change was or had , taken place. i still log in and out , with the same bookmark, that i have always used. i will admit, though, i was "sitting around waiting for the house to fall in on us"! you did an excellent job, Don. very smooth transition, for me. just jt
Freebird Posted May 19, 2008 Author #17 Posted May 19, 2008 Didn't we just do this last week? I'm either off my rockers (again) or this is the second server move in two weeks. Yea, but I like to change servers every week or so just to keep things fresh. Actually, it just wasn't working out and I decided to cut my losses and move on to something hopefully better.
BuddyRich Posted May 19, 2008 #18 Posted May 19, 2008 Its weird but I still have to use the ip. The DNS's won't trace yet. Maybe tomorrow.
BigShell Posted May 19, 2008 #19 Posted May 19, 2008 Its weird but I still have to use the ip. The DNS's won't trace yet. Maybe tomorrow. I'm right down the road from you with the same results. Name won't resolve yet... used the ip address here too.
BuddyRich Posted May 19, 2008 #20 Posted May 19, 2008 Hey Doug, Mine just traced out a couple of minutes ago so you may be good to go now.
BigShell Posted May 20, 2008 #21 Posted May 20, 2008 Hey Doug, Mine just traced out a couple of minutes ago so you may be good to go now. Yep.. working fine this evening!
spear Posted May 20, 2008 #22 Posted May 20, 2008 Okay Don. This is a technical-type question for you and all the other computer savvy people on this site. (Doesn't include me I'm afraid.) Can you identify this item being loaded into the hold of the aircraft? I'll give it a couple of days to see if anybody comes up with any ideas, before I post the answer.
BuddyRich Posted May 20, 2008 #23 Posted May 20, 2008 Its an old IBM 350 I have used Mid 80's HDD's from IBM but they were half that size by then
spear Posted May 20, 2008 #24 Posted May 20, 2008 Its a hard disk in 1956.... In September 1956 IBM launched the 305 RAMAC, the first computer with a hard disk drive. The HDD weighed over a ton and stored 5MB of data. Makes you appreciate your 4GB USB flashdrive, doesn't it?
BuddyRich Posted May 20, 2008 #25 Posted May 20, 2008 Yep, The 305 was the computer the 350 was the HDD. The thing was huge as you can tell from the desk on the right http://www-03.ibm.com/ibm/history/exhibits/storage/images/PH0305.jpg
