Poppa Phill Posted May 25, 2020 #51 Posted May 25, 2020 Well I like it very much! Its not perfect but that is what appears when you play from the heart and soul, refining comes later maybe I don't usually quot a full post with videos but in this case I wanted to ensure it stays with the thread! Show us whazchagot more please:happy65: Thanks Patch. This recording was shared as part of a Pain management and Therapy group. most all of us were PTSD Vets as Primary, the physical stuff just made it worse.. The topic or homework for lack of a better word was to kinda do a show an tell of what we do to handle the PTSD when the pain gets out of control. and talking beyond morphine capable pain levels. So I dont edit the sessions where im dealing with the pain. If I did there would be nothing to share as my hands are also affected messing it all up all over the place. I promise to get something without the screws loose !!

Then his message gathers meaning and it spreads across the land The rewarding of his pain is the following of the man But ignorance is everywhere and people have their way Success is an enemy to the losers of the day In the shadows of the churches, who knows what they pray For blood is the language of the band. They say they can't believe it, it's a sacrilegious shame Now, who would want to hurt such a hero of the game? But you know I predicted it; I knew he had to fall How did it happen? I hope his suffering was small. Tell me every detail, I've got to know it all, And do you have a picture of the pain? Time takes her toll and the memory fades but his glory is broken, in the magic that he made. Reality is ruined; it's the freeing from the fear The drama is distorted, to what they want to hear Swimming in their sorrow, in the twisting of a tear As they wait for a new thrill parade. The eyes of the rebel have been branded by the blind To the safety of sterility, the threat has been refined The child was created to the slaughterhouse he's led So good to be alive when the eulogy is read The climax of emotion, the worship of the dead And the cycle of sacrifice unwinds. SilveradoCA Posted July 18, 2020 #56 Posted July 18, 2020 I have a huge playlist that I listen to while I'm making miles. Most of the music is from the late 80's and newer (not surprising given that I'm smack dab in the middle of GenX, and a fair bit younger than most of you), but here are a few of my older faves from that list: Edit: It seems I can only link 1 vid per post. Sorry for the post dump!

I was honored to spend the last month of his life on earth, by his side at his home in FL. A pastor whom was always there with open arms for his kids, even when his heart was breaking for his Prodigal Son. A blessing it was for my sister's and me to sing him to sleep with the old hymns that he'd sing to his kids before bed 40 years earlier. https://www.google.com/url?sa=t&source=web&rct=j&url=https://m.youtube.com/watch%3Fv%3DN3TYkAWRdU4&ved=2ahUKEwiF78ySn9fqAhVRds0KHW5NCsEQo7QBMAB6BAgDEAE&usg=AOvVaw0V7jlRbmyEU_pI1f4J89zw Edited July 18, 2020 by Surfrider

THANK YOU for sharing that with us!! In respect of and in response to your post,, I want to dedicate this old Trucker song that has stirred my heart since the early Trucker CB days back in the late 60's/early 70's to your Dad's memorial. I know it is not a hymn persay (of which I could easily relate to as your father did cause I love those old Gospel hymn's too) but it is definitely right up there with Merle's tune as far as telling it like it is... Hope it inspires and does not offend you or the precious memories you have of your Dad in any way:
Patch Posted July 18, 2020 Author #64 Posted July 18, 2020 Patch seems to have disappeared off the Site Dad. Don’t see his name on the member list any more. Hope he returns though. Always enjoyed his banter! Very kind of you! So how come you didn't stop by then? Offer me a brew? Or how about a asking if I wouldn't mind taking the Mrs. out for dinner (on your tab) while you were golfing? Hmm
Guest divey Posted July 18, 2020 #65 Posted July 18, 2020 Very kind of you! So how come you didn't stop by then? Offer me a brew? Or how about a asking if I wouldn't mind taking the Mrs. out for dinner (on your tab) while you were golfing? Hmm Well look what the cat dragged in! If you’re going to take a holiday, how about giving us a heads up 😳. I was worried sick, not. You must have one of those Google tracking mechanisms the boys are talking about because I was in your fair city last week. And no, I’m not letting the Mrs. within sight of you. I’ve read some of your posts! Joking aside bud, one day we need to meet up and share a beverage. 👍
Patch Posted July 18, 2020 Author #66 Posted July 18, 2020 Well @Surfrider I have a secret to share; I envy what you remember and feel for that life and that man you called Dad! We do not all receive such a blessing to begin our journey with. When I learned to read I wasted no time becoming more than a fly on a fence post. One lesson that always stuck with me is the one sure thing about energy & matter can not be destroyed. Yes we can manipulate it, we can reduce it but in the end and in some shape and form it remains. So as was your Dad's energy is still his energy; and so as I see and believe it all that he was he still is, and lives within children, grandchildren for generations to come! Want proof
Patch Posted July 18, 2020 Author #67 Posted July 18, 2020 Eh guys, want to thank y,all for sharing in this thread; your thoughts and comments have been very rewarding. Certainly a symbol to which this club remains a well woven and worn sweater. I want to post a song that dates back a touch, first tho, I know there is something of a disconnect between our to countries. As a "Kanuckian" we have often witnessed first hand this "American Experiment" triumphs, falls and losses: they as always have been felt and discussed North of 49 and, is how JFK said it was meant to be, and I agree. While still adding to my music collection I came across a couple tunes that struck me tho not both related to this post, I wish to share this with y'all hoping you see and feel as much pride in it as we do here to the North. Was this symbol the makings of Hollywood or of the people; thinking now the last of many last Spock lines

Sorry for the post dump! I like it! Why is it this song reminds me of traveling the West in the Late 70's not sure? I do know in those days and thru my travels I found being stuck broke down is sometimes one of the loneliest moments remember thru my life. Yet as I recall there is really no better place thru my travels then being broke down in these Prairies, somehow and thru that mean heat wave dancing off the black tops there always seem to be a Puc wondering round willing ready to share a jug and a helping hand! Some even come along with Chicks named Tip Here is one of my favorites from Led... As @LittleSparkPlug can attest to
Patch Posted July 19, 2020 Author #69 Posted July 19, 2020 OK, that one isn't so old... Wow what a great song for us in the club, "I" that other kind" so right on! You should drop in to Mama's cafe, we kind of just let loose there... We share so much and spin vinyl till the wolves howl. Just the other night Puc and I (after the kids went to bed) start talking bout Tip, I calls her Tippy cause she has to tippy toe past Puc to take my calls! Anyways, turns out we (Puc and Me) both appreciate the same things about Tip/Tippy which as I read many years back is a result of brain wiring,,,, anyways kind of a long story and Puc was drinking Pepsi straight up and couldn't get to sleep. I on the other hand was mixing my Pepsi with Lambs Dark, hopin he fall asleep so as I could play Tippy our song>>> But I think Puc has cought on to Tip/Tippy and Me cause he was playing "My girl Bill" really I think Tippy prefers my weeping melodies https://youtu.be/Ki78MK9JywE
Patch Posted July 19, 2020 Author #70 Posted July 19, 2020 Smoke On the water.. Well I play a band in my yuth before I was tucked away, this song was one of them. Now whiles life was a fording my steel I found a deeper Purple that kind of fit, here it is by Grand Funk

Patch Posted July 19, 2020 Author #72 Posted July 19, 2020 SO boys we have a brother that feels he is not so much at home these days. I have had the pleasure of swapping stories withem. I was taken by his take on book covers. I think I get his view but maybe deep down it isn't so? We exchanged a bit, I posted these to him one on one and, sadly I have not had return from him since! So has anybody body seen/heard from our brother Poppa Phil ? "Is this about race Phil?" (me) "And here I has the audacity to think no one was listening." (Phil)
