Speedometer works....odometer not so good

Has anybody ever had the speedometer work fine but the odometer is way off? How much is hard to tell, both tripmeter and odometer seem to read similar but it's probably showing 1km after 50 km driven.

The problem is most likely a stripped plastic gear in the odometer drive train. Blue arrows in the accompanying photo.

That's kind of what I figured, but havent gone to the trouble of disassembling. Maybe a job for next winter. Thanks very much!!
