Myself & 3 other biker buddies from Ontario Canada are planning a road trip (first week of June) along Route #6. Weather permitting we will be camping. I have been researching this area with the Pennsylvania Tourism Bureau. Curious to know if anyone else has experienced a bike trip along Pennsylvania's Heritage Route. We are also considering our travels through New York State with the Catskill & Adirondack mountains. Any information you could share would be very appreciated! Thanks in advance.

Sounds like a nice trip. Can't tell ya much about the roads. Did most of my traveling through PA when I was a kid. You'll be down here the week we have maintenance day at Freebirds. That's in Oberlin OH, if you get a chance you should stop by it's June 7. Have a fun and safe trip.

For PA. rte. 6 is a nice ride, in NY. rte. 20 is a nice ride also Both are east/west roads and go across the states, they meet by Cleveland, OH. I've done both and enjoyed the rides.

It's hard to find a bad road in the Catskills or Adirondacks. That said my favorite roads in the Catskills have to be around the Pepacton and Askokan Reservoirs. As for the Adirondacks straight up 30 is nice, 9N around Lake George is very nice too... If you have some time head over the Mohawk Trail in Western Mass... You'll like that road too.... hope this helps. See you on the road! I'm heading out that way in a couple weeks. OH... my all time favorite is 7 around great Sacandaga Lake just west of Saratoga Springs. Heads over to 9N. Enjoy!:080402gudl_prv: If you like large events Americade is June 2-7 at Lake George.

Wellsboro, PA is a great stop to see the PA Grand Canyon. You can catch one side on your way into town, and the other on your way out. Wellsboro diner is a great breakfast stop, and the Frog Hut is the ice cream stop. If you have time and are tired of all the small town stops along Rt 6, the run down Rt 287 from Wellsboro to Salladasburg is hard to beat. There are choices to get back up to Rt 6 from there, but I always prefer to just turn around and back track it. The road is that good.

Have done Rt 6 all across Pa. Wellsboro is a nice little town, Blackwell Hotel at the bottom of the Grand canyon is a nice stop. Kinzu(spelling??) Dam is a neat place to stop. Allegehenny forest area is beautiful. Cement arch bridges in Nicholson are impressive. Great ride, enjoy it, once you get out around Erie its not too far to Dons. Craig

Thanks for the info / invite to the June 7th maintenance day at Freebirds. Unfortunately we will be back in Ontario that day so we will not be able to attend. Perhaps I'll be able to attend a future maintenance day????

Dittios on making Wellsboro, PA a stop. If you need a bit more luxury for one night I would suggest an overnight in Wellsboro which is a great little city. In addition to the dinner and the Frog Hut there is also a very nice old Hotel on main street that has a wonderful resturaunt inside...prices were reasonable and the service and food were top notch. There was also an old mom & pop sweet shop along main street that also served lunches...we never had a bad meal in any of the resturaunts we ate in at Wellsboro...the dinner is worth while but can be rather busy during peak dining hours.

Let me know your dates and what you got planned...I'm off that weekend and might want to hook up with you guys somewhere along the way. Route 6 is a real nice ride.

Hey Banny. So Maintenance day is out how about this weekend at Marcarls (see Link) and by the way your only 20 minutes from Kitchener, where we are having the Ralley this summer July 7-10th.

Also keep your eye out as we head to Michigan quite a bit and some of those folks occasionally get over here. Obviously your choice but it would be great to meet you out and about.

PS we travelled the Upper Adirondacks a few years back following a couple of locals what a beautiful area.

Pennsylvania really promotes Route #6 as a road of choice for Motorcycles! I will email you a jpeg version of some info from one of the many booklets I received. Unfortunately a jpeg version attached to this website doesn't allow a clear enough read of the print. Yes I would appreciate your email involving the Rider magazine! Thanks in adavnce!

Lots of good info, thanks! Unfortunately our travel time has recently been downsized / limited to 4 days. Depart Ontario on Tuesday June 3rd with a return to Ontario Friday June 6th. Hopefully this will still allow us enough time to enjoy the road trip! I know you made reference to "weekend" but if you are available, you'd be more than welcome to hook up with us. If not this time perhaps another!

One of my favourite. Love riding in PA. I have been on Hwy 6 many times. It is a super route great winding roads. As soon as I cross the state line I always pull over and take off my helmut. Yes I know it might be dangerous but I simply cannot resist the feeling. It is so liberating. Last season I was on Hwy 6 all the way back from Scanton PA after checking out the National Steam Museum. Can't say enough about that highway. I like doing it every year. I haven't been all the way west on it so this year I expect I'll head down 219 and pick up and go west old man.

I am from Burlington ON so you guys rock.

Hey Brad, thanks for your message! I saw the May 24th event and was going to join in but I already have a family event planned for that same day, so I won't be able to go to Brantford. I am attempting to reschedule things in July with regard to the Rally. I've talked with Reiny about that. Hopefully I will be able to adjust my previously arranged events so I will be able to attend. I know there has been a lot of hard work & effort put in to it!!!!!!

I do however look forward to meeting and riding with you & the many others I've yet to hook up with! What's your schedule looking like, lets hook up soon.

It's good hearing from you! We are really looking forward to it. How many days did you take to travel Route #6? We will be crossing over at Niagara Falls then southbound to Pennsylvania, grabbing Route #6 from the west side of the state and following along eastbound all the way over to Milford. Sure hope the weather is good!
