I have an 87 1st gen. I am trying to wire my bike for a trailer which is a 4 wire trailer. By the battery is my fuse box with brown, blue, red/white

I wired my trailer from the back where I could get at the harness, under the trunk area. I glued my modulite inside the back rail and then taped the wires together and run them down the little pipe that holds the fender at the bottom.

Hope this helps.

I removed the seat and wired in on the back harness. It is easy access under the seat. Instead of buying the adapter, I found it cheaper to buy 2 amber lights from Wal Mart and add the signals on the trailer and then you can just wire into the existing circuit. I used a 5 wire plug on the bike and trailer. I ran the tail lights through a toggle switch so I don't have to run them during the day. Only the brake lights and signals work until I turn on the tail lights.
