rsstar Posted May 16, 2008 #1 Posted May 16, 2008 It only took me 3 months to make a decision but I finally picked up my new bike tuesday. It wasn't my first choice, or even my second. But after eliminating the first choice and scratching the second choice because of the dealer I chose this. No, it's not a Venture. After losing my 99 to Katrina, which was the bike I dearly loved, and then totaling out the 06, which by the way, wasn't my fault, I decided I needed a change. Have only managed to put 50 miles on her due tyo work and bad weather but the weekend forcast is for sunny skies so riding I will be. I still think the Venture is one of the finest touring bikes and hopefully you all will let me continue to hang out here. Met a few of you last year at Vogel and am hoping to meet more this year. SO, here she is;
Mariner Fan Posted May 16, 2008 #2 Posted May 16, 2008 Richard, What's it like riding a Wing compared to a Venture? Must be a bit of an adjustment.
Stratcat Posted May 16, 2008 #3 Posted May 16, 2008 Very cool nice looking ride, it's ain't what ya ride it's just that ya ride!! Enjoy the new toy!
Guest JGorom Posted May 16, 2008 #4 Posted May 16, 2008 Congratulations...you got yourself an upright crotch rocket on steriods. Be careful with that throttle as it has been known to cause some serious damage due to whiplash. It is definitely different riding...but man the power is unbelievable. Your wife is going to love that rear seat...at least that is what my wife tells me. Dittios on what Stratcat already stated...it's ain't what ya ride it's just that ya ride!! Later...
Dano Posted May 16, 2008 #5 Posted May 16, 2008 Talked a Harley rider sitting on a Winger at the local Stealer the other day to go over and check out the RSV they had sitting there------ he rode out of there on the new RSV----- funny thing, the winger was an 04, the RSV new---- he spent less money AND got a better bike!!!!! Dan
Skid Posted May 16, 2008 #6 Posted May 16, 2008 Very Sharp looking scoot, you're always welcome to hangout here or ride with us...... as long as you don't mind riding with an old scoot.
Mariner Fan Posted May 16, 2008 #7 Posted May 16, 2008 The nice thing about Touring bikes is the differences. I'm most comfortable on the Venture but I certainly like and respect the Wing and Ultra's. Since they are all Touring rigs we can all ride together without causing anyone distress. I rode with some cruiser guys and it was difficult because they needed to ride really slow. My Venture wanted to gallop!
mini-muffin Posted May 16, 2008 #8 Posted May 16, 2008 Hey once you're a member here you aren't allowed to leave no matter what you're riding. Bike is pretty. Have fun and ride safe. Margaret
hipshot Posted May 16, 2008 #9 Posted May 16, 2008 very pretty bike, there rich! now what are ya gonna do , when you ride it? you know that color, is an absolute "DUST MAGNET"! lol oh and a question. how do you haul your metal detector, on a bike? just jt
Guest JGorom Posted May 16, 2008 #10 Posted May 16, 2008 that color, is an absolute "DUST MAGNET"! lol JT...as long as he rides it for what it is (upright crotch rocket on steriods) that dust will have a hard time finding a place to land. But I know what you mean about the color black...my RSV is black...my Wing is beige (it's dust colored) lol! Later...
eagleeye Posted May 16, 2008 #11 Posted May 16, 2008 Hey, I think I'm more impressed with your garage than your new ride. Nice! Steve
Squeeze Posted May 16, 2008 #13 Posted May 16, 2008 Talked a Harley rider sitting on a Winger at the local Stealer the other day to go over and check out the RSV they had sitting there------ he rode out of there on the new RSV----- funny thing, the winger was an 04, the RSV new---- he spent less money AND got a better bike!!!!! Dan Your good Deed for the Day was done. Good Job !!
rsstar Posted May 16, 2008 Author #14 Posted May 16, 2008 Thanks everyone for the well wishes and kind words. I really enjoy this site and the people here. But I am going to have to ask Don to change my name since I don't have an RSV now. Think I'll just keep it simple and go by "Rich", my name. As for the garage, my wife and kids did the garage for me last year. I had not finished painting after Katrina and it was just primered. The paint scheme is my daughter's idea. And her and my son did the floor. My wife bought the work bench and cabinet. I was in Ok. City for a month and came home to this. Hipshot, the detectors fold up. They will fit in the saddlebag. Unfortunately I haven't had time to go hunting lately.
Ozark Posted May 16, 2008 #15 Posted May 16, 2008 Very nice bike. My best friend has one and I'm afraid to ride it. Could catch the fever for a newer bike and just can't think about getting rid of the 1st gen. Enjoy, enjoy, enjoy.
talonsx2 Posted May 16, 2008 #16 Posted May 16, 2008 Thats a ditto on what eagleye said about your garage it is awesome. I hope mine is that nice someday. Oh yeah, Nice wing too :225:MIKE
Guest cwil2988 Posted May 16, 2008 #17 Posted May 16, 2008 Man, that black Wing would look really cool riding next to my white TD, or maybe it's the other way around, lol. anyhow, enjoy and your welcome to ride with us anytime, we got a mixture of all kinds, Harleys, Yamahas, Kawasakis, Hondas, BMWs, even a triumph or two (I will say us Star Cruisers got em all outnumbered though, hehe) Craig
chollahan Posted May 16, 2008 #18 Posted May 16, 2008 Super nice ride!!!!!!!!! My wife has dictated that that is what she wants next after seeing my friend's wing. She fell in love with the back seat area. I also compared the picture of your control area with that of an F-16....................I can't decide which has more screen and buttons! Is that the Nav screen?
86er Posted May 17, 2008 #19 Posted May 17, 2008 The Wing does match your toolbox nicely! Nice ride! You can ride with me anytime. C'mon down!
