jfman Posted February 25, 2020 #1 Posted February 25, 2020 Local guy is selling a brand new Michelin MT90B16 Commander 2 for a great price. my reasearch shows it will be a litte bit skinnier than the oem 140/90-16. will it be enough to make a negative difference what do you guyz think?
BlueSky Posted February 25, 2020 #2 Posted February 25, 2020 The main thing I would be concerned with is the load rating. If the load rating is the same, it should work I would think. There might be some traction loss.
jfman Posted February 25, 2020 Author #3 Posted February 25, 2020 The load rating is 74 wichi is higher than my current Dunlop D404 140/90-16 at 71
MiCarl Posted February 25, 2020 #4 Posted February 25, 2020 I wouldn't. Your rim will be wider than the tire wants which will flatten the tire profile. It also might make it harder to seat the bead. If you do decide to do it check the date code. You don't want one that's been sitting around for a long time.
