tufftom4 Posted February 12, 2020 #1 Posted February 12, 2020 I don't think I could ever shoot this thing. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ucjwnPRicQw&feature=share&fbclid=IwAR12lvLmTNpuDYFGqpKhneB_j3NCZPw4LD76ou4ZWkvWQxuuhqp0GtcwIC4
Flyinfool Posted February 13, 2020 #2 Posted February 13, 2020 I once had a Desert Eagle in 50AE. I had to sell it but want / need another one. But then this S&W 500 Magnum appeared on the scene and now I can not decide which of the two to get. First........
BlueSky Posted February 13, 2020 #3 Posted February 13, 2020 I'll just use my AR15 with 30 round magazine or 12 gauge semi-auto shotgun with slugs to keep the big stuff away. Wouldn't even want to fire that thing.
leroy Posted February 13, 2020 #4 Posted February 13, 2020 I don't think I could ever shoot this thing. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ucjwnPRicQw&feature=share&fbclid=IwAR12lvLmTNpuDYFGqpKhneB_j3NCZPw4LD76ou4ZWkvWQxuuhqp0GtcwIC4 I have the 4 inch barrel, wanted 6 inch but bought it slightly used at good price. It is really not that bad to shoot. It has good balance and a good grip. I enjoy it except when it comes time to buy ammo. Before I bought it I put 50 rounds through it. I like the big ones. Maybe because my first handgun (after cap guns) was a Dan Wesson 357 magnum in 1972. I still like the 357 magnum so much that I often carry the S&W 340 PD Air Lite 2in loaded with Critical Defense. I also put 50 rounds through a S&W 340 before buying one. 50 rounds of full power 357 magnums in that light revolver, I knew I had been doing some serious shooting. For self defense how many shots will a person have a chance to take? Of course i had to step up to the 44 magnum before the 500. What can I say, I like big bores, even in rifles. But 22s are fun and cheap. My son in law bought, I think the 10 inch, 500. He likes his also. I don't care for the long barrel.
BratmanXj Posted February 14, 2020 #5 Posted February 14, 2020 An engineering Lunch & Learn seminar I try to attend every year is at the local range, as the sales guy/instructor is also a semi-pro shooter. He pulled a 500 out of his bag this past year, gave a few of us bigger guys a little info on shooting it and handed it off. I put 3 rounds through and told him I still had to go back and type up a report and this things gonna make my hand numb. I did shoot my buddies Ruger 7" 44 Mag. & 6" 367 Mag. a bit the last time we went to the range, fun guns to toy with but I'd never really have a reason to own one.
slowrollwv Posted February 16, 2020 #6 Posted February 16, 2020 I have a 44 Mag and have shot the 500 but I am sure that that 500 Mag would jump out of my hands now that I am older and don't have the grip that I use to.
cowpuc Posted February 17, 2020 #7 Posted February 17, 2020 AWESOME!! Would LOVE to have one and would definitely shoot the living daylights out of it!! Only issue on my end would be saving up for ammo
RandyR Posted February 18, 2020 #8 Posted February 18, 2020 I found .44 mag to not be comfortable to shoot == I wouldn't practice much with it, which I like to do. I did buy a Ruger Redhawk in .41 mag which is still a handful for me. I have reloading dies for it, so isn't too expensive to shoot.
