Dano Posted May 17, 2008 Author #26 Posted May 17, 2008 Thanks to you all, I have read with interest and I hope this thread gets backed up and moved to the new server. I will digest and study (as Squeeze knows, I move on stuff but not till I have a game plan) and do something after maintenance day. I want the vboost on the bike, but it seems carefull planning is in order so as not to create further problems down the road. Will keep all posted. By the way, on the seemingly unknown lower slide bushings I was looking for for my forks, it seems that this particular part is called a "fork Piston" and does not show up on the 84 Yamaha parts fiche. You have to find it on an 85 fiche. Pops right up! To stroke Flatouts ego a little bit, they are really helping me out. I called Chris at 11:30 this morning, explained my plight, that not having forks is holding me up from getting the motor back in. He took it upon himself to place the order for overnight Saturday delivery and is only charging me $20 shipping for that. I couldn't believe it! I knew that these guys were great, but they really went out of their way for me today. Oh well, now to sit down and order all my new hoses for cooling, etc. Don't want one of these puppies blowing out on me after all this work. Thanks again guys, this thread is GREAT! Dan
CrazyHorse Posted May 17, 2008 #27 Posted May 17, 2008 I wouldn't mess with cutting a hole in the cover. Attached is a pic of daveg90's VR and it has a V-Boost sitting under the hood. I bet if you contacted him he'd supply you with pics and some friendly advice on how to shoehorn the whole setup in there. If remember correctly he has a switch that allows him to switch the Boost on and off..... BTW his VR is one of the cleanest I've ever seen... That bike is beautiful.
Guest RogerRoger Posted August 14, 2008 #28 Posted August 14, 2008 However he went a different avenue that I on the crossovers and kept the butterflies. Rick, I realize this is an old thread. Hope you see this post. Do I understand that you deleted the Vmax butterflies? I ask because I just bought these... file:///C:/DOCUME%7E1/RTurley/LOCALS%7E1/Temp/moz-screenshot.jpg I probably won't do anything for a while. Just wondering how it ran without limiting the cross-over with the butterflies. Thanks, Roger
Rick Butler Posted August 14, 2008 #29 Posted August 14, 2008 Roger, Yeah, the best I can tell what you have is a set of V-Max intakes with a straight cross-over. Or it could have been one of the Tuggs intakes that was available for a while. But with this type of intake, you will always be pulling from 2 carbs on every cylinder. And you will have to go with 150 main jets as well change your pilot jets. Go back and look at the document that I attached from Dave G. And you will need to really open up your air box with more holes. And I threw those heavy junction boots for the carbs away and used the juctions from the cross-overs to attach the carbs to the intake. This not a project for just anyone and it will frustrate the crap out of you at times. Rick
Guest RogerRoger Posted August 14, 2008 #30 Posted August 14, 2008 Rick, Thanks for the response. I think I'll save them for a boring time in my life (if there ever is one) and just enjoy the bike like it is. Wouldn't be the time I've bought something only to change my mind! Thanks again, Roger
