Lepapehermann Posted February 21, 2007 Author Share #26 Posted February 21, 2007 [quote=Lone Eagle;62992 WOW - THAT IS AWESOME, HERMANN. Tools, time, but moreso knowledge and imagination. Do you think those wheels would gradually pick up stuff from the floor to cause them to stop turning? The wheel, in reality, are bearings and the concrete surface in the garage is extremely hard so I don't expect any dust buildup. I will certainly have to keep the floor clean, sweeping it from time to time should be enough to keep the dirt out of the way. All the bearings are aligned according to the radius of the turntable so they roll flat and at the right angle eliminating any possible skew that could generate dust buildup. kantornado Posted February 22, 2007 Share #27 Posted February 22, 2007 Lepapehermann that turntable is very cool and like most people the first thing I thought of was well a "turntable" and had to see the thread. Guest Jetson Posted March 13, 2007 Share #30 Posted March 13, 2007 Mine turns on nylon wheels, they can't get clogged with dirt, and don't wear out. I don't have a center stand, either. If you aren't going to build one yourself, I think it was worth it.
Lepapehermann Posted March 25, 2007 Author Share #31 Posted March 25, 2007 The turntable is now secured onto the garage floor and the bike is on it. Turning my ride around is a breeze, I couldn't be happier with the whole thing. I wanted to ride today but we had some snow last night.... I will have to wait a little longer. danh Posted April 1, 2011 Share #32 Posted April 1, 2011 What a great idea! Any chance you can make another and ship out? Maybe partial assembly by purchaser? Really nice job.
yamtom Posted June 25, 2011 Share #33 Posted June 25, 2011 Sell the plans specifically for a few bux although they would hardly be necessary. I am thinking, yes use that pizza pan, but oil, and a bunch of small ball bearings, with a quarter inch plate, but you would need the center stand to work it. RedRider Posted June 25, 2011 Share #34 Posted June 25, 2011 I saw a 'turntable for my bike' and first thought - there is someone in this world that the cassette is too advanced for. Upon further reveiw, nice work. RR
