Sunman Posted May 12, 2008 #1 Posted May 12, 2008 After installing my new GPS unit earlier. I am noticing that my speedometer is out a bit from my actual speed as calculated by my GPS. I have heard that the GPS units are incredibly accurate. My '06 RSTD seems to be out on the high side. When my speedometer reads 120, my actual speed from GPS is 112. This can't be designed on purpose, so in that case, is there a fix?
KeithR Posted May 12, 2008 #2 Posted May 12, 2008 (edited) You can get a unit called Speedohealer........go to search (top of page) and type in speedohealer and you will see a bunch of posts on it Have a look at this link http://www.healtech-electronics.com/ http://www.xtsportbikeaccessories.com/page/page/5698303.htm Edited May 12, 2008 by KeithR

BradT Posted May 13, 2008 #4 Posted May 13, 2008 I just look at the GPS when I want to know my speed. Most of the time it matters none. I just cruise with the traffic then pass when it is safe to do so. They all are about 7-10% out. BRad
juggler Posted May 13, 2008 #5 Posted May 13, 2008 While the speedohealer is a cool little gadget, I prefer to keep my inaccurate speedometer. I look at as as ticket insurance. As long as I travel at the posted speed I know that I will always be a few mph under and safe from tickets.
