taz62359 Posted May 12, 2008 #1 Posted May 12, 2008 I use a windshield mounted E-Zpass in my vehicle for business and was curious if it could also be used on my venture and where it would need to be mounted? Kevin
wkboard Posted May 12, 2008 #2 Posted May 12, 2008 I have an illinois I-Pass. I just put it in the pocket of my leather Hopnel tank cover. It works every time. I have heard that they will even work in the trunk, but I have not tried that yet. I suggest putting it where it is most convenient and going through a toll booth with the lights or gate, so you are sure that it worked. On the high speed lanes you have to check the website later to see if it worked. Also some people put them in a zipped or velcro pocket of their jacket.

dynodon Posted May 12, 2008 #4 Posted May 12, 2008 For Illinois at least, you should register which vehicle you use the EZ-pass for, or buy one for each vehicle. There could be a fine if they catch you using a pass for one vehicle in another. This is mainly to prevent people from using a pass for a Motorcycle on a double axle truck with a trailer! When it goes the other way, you will be overpaying. At the minimal cost, I would just buy one for the motorcycle and keep it there, and keep another in the car/truck.
rek58 Posted May 12, 2008 #5 Posted May 12, 2008 I have one of those handle bar holders, never had any problems with it not working properly. Here in Mass., you can register more than one vehicle on one ez-pass, just as long as it's not a commercial vehicle of any type.

All you have to do is list the vehicle and plate number on the web site. I have 2 transponders, all registered to all 3 of my vehicles. If you loan it to someone, just list their vehicle online. no big deal.
Gene-b Posted May 12, 2008 #7 Posted May 12, 2008 I have one for my bike, I leave it in the trunk. It seems to work fine, not a problem for 2 months now and I use it a lot. I do the same thing in my truck, I leave the transponder in my glove box and it works fine. Gene
