Ferrantelli Posted May 10, 2008 #1 Posted May 10, 2008 OK folks I just picked up Harley touring mufflers off e-bay. Now I have read about the modification 1-4. These are still original I do not know what year bike they came off of, but the left one has a catalyst in it. What now? How can I modify this one compare to the other side? Should I install them the way they are now and try first? Can they be modified? Thanks.
Freebird Posted May 11, 2008 #2 Posted May 11, 2008 I know that some here have drilled the catalyst. Do a search for catalyst and you will probably find some info.
royalstarjac Posted May 11, 2008 #3 Posted May 11, 2008 I don't think the catalyst has any effect, soundwise. You can drill them out like the non catalyst mufflers if you choose. I could be wrong though. The ones I got were non catalyst.-Jack
Ponch Posted May 12, 2008 #4 Posted May 12, 2008 Joe, I installed a set last week. I didn't like the sound at first, but after riding all weekend, I like it! Not too loud and sounds good when you accelerate hard. I'm gonna leave the cat alone. Ponch:080402gudl_prv:

After market are too expensive and probably too loud for my taste. Got Harley mufflers for $12.50 on e-bay. Cheap way to experiment!
