anti virus protection

need computer assistance, please.

anti-virus grissoft 8.0, WILL not work on my p.c.

anyone have any suggestions on a FREE or TRIAL version, that i can download, as a "band aid", while i battle with grissoft?

I use AVG and never had an iussue with it not working, sorry to hear youre having issue with it. One of these like avast should be fine for you.

We use the free AVG and so far it seems to work,although it let in a Venture Virus and now I can't get off this site whenever I'm home.:crackup:

However for the most part....generally you can run WITHOUT an anti-virus program if you do certain things...Most virus's / adware / spyware we get is because of our behaviour on our computers.

 

Don't ever open attachments in your email until you have confirmed with the sender that they did infact send you an email WITH an attachment.

 

Don't visit PORN sites (for the most part).

 

Don't click on HYPERLINKS in email messages.

 

I understand if you still want protection and there are many. If you want to try one of the best ones out there.....click on ESET which is NOD32. A very light weight yet powerful program that most of all the computer tech guys use and talk about.

 

You can also go to http://techguylabs.com where Leo Laporte talks about anything technical.

I saw this one mentioned on a techy show one day....I'm using AVG 8.0 but this one was rated pretty good.

I had a glitch in AVG 8.0 and removed program then reloaded and it ran fine.

If you also had the previous AVG free the new would not load correctly untill the old program was completly removed.

 

Now, what is this about AVG being unavailable after May 31st, I have not heard that before now!
