Moakster Posted May 7, 2008 #1 Posted May 7, 2008 I am getting ready to purchase new Avons for my Midnight 05 RSV. I have the leveling links installed and have read a lot of the threads that say go to the smaller front Avon to improve the handling. My question is if I already have the links and the the bike handles great does buying the smaller front tire make a difference in the handling? Moakster

cecdoo Posted May 7, 2008 #3 Posted May 7, 2008 I would stay with stock size front tire, but what the heck do I know:whistling: Craig
Squidley Posted May 7, 2008 #4 Posted May 7, 2008 Stock size front tire and leveling links, if your inseamed challenged, then forgo the level links and go with the narrower front tire
Moakster Posted May 7, 2008 Author #5 Posted May 7, 2008 Thanks guys, new y'all would know which way to go. Ordering the 150/80HB-16 front and the 150/90HB-15 rear tomorrow. Moakster
AZSpyder Posted May 7, 2008 #6 Posted May 7, 2008 I guess opinions and desired feel vary. With the 404 Dunlops I tried the leveling links, then removed them and lowered the front 1/2 inch. I then went with the narrow Avon with the lowered front, raising the front back to stock a few days later. For me the narrow Avon and standard suspension height is the best feel out of everything tried. Jerry
Al Bates Posted May 7, 2008 #7 Posted May 7, 2008 Having the leveling links, (you can make for next to nothing) and the smaller front Avon tire makes a nice combination. Together they make a huge different.
Double D Posted May 8, 2008 #8 Posted May 8, 2008 Thanks guys, new y'all would know which way to go. Ordering the 150/80HB-16 front and the 150/90HB-15 rear tomorrow. Moakster I just ordered the rear from Dennis Kirk, $120 delivered. Got it in 2 days.
pegscraper Posted May 8, 2008 #9 Posted May 8, 2008 I run both the leveling links and the narrower front tire. I like it a lot. I won't be going back.
Missionary Rider Posted May 8, 2008 #10 Posted May 8, 2008 Just rode the bike home with new stock-sized Avons and the leveling links. Did short tryout in the parking lot but didn't want to try a real rodeo until I put a few more miles on (wear off the new coating). The Avons make a HUGE difference rolling into the curves (you should see my commute from North Little Rock to Otto!). This beast thinks it's a sport bike! Yes, guys, I know I should have trashed the Bridgestones sooner but I'm just TOO CHEAP. Lynn
Crash Posted May 9, 2008 #11 Posted May 9, 2008 I also have the leveling links and smaller front Avon. Like the combo!
venture1 Posted May 10, 2008 #12 Posted May 10, 2008 Is the 150/80 HB-16 Front and the 150/90 HB- 15 Rear the stock size for the RSV. Or is there another stock combination.
