mellco Posted May 7, 2008 #1 Posted May 7, 2008 Hello Everyone, I'm in need of your assistance again. Here is my problem: when I wash the bike it is always hard to start,if I let it set a while it will start. If I drive in heavy rain the bike has stalled out. When I let it set a while it will start and run fine. I have taken the TCI unit out cleaned the connectors and opened the cover letting it dry out, also used diaelectric grease on the connector. I have replaced the spark plug wires thinking that they mey be the problem but to no avail. I'm leaving on Friday for Myrtle Beach and the forecast is for rain. HELP!
Squeeze Posted May 7, 2008 #2 Posted May 7, 2008 Side Stand Switch and Switches on the right Handlebar would be my first suspicious. Why ? Because Rain and as well as Water from Washing will get easy to both and can corrupt proper Function. It doesn't take long to dry out and then it's back in Service. Ignition Box is under Hood and Water from would be hard to reach there.
royalstarjac Posted May 7, 2008 #3 Posted May 7, 2008 Try soaking the ignition switch with wd40. You may be getting moisture in there.-Jack
KiteSquid Posted May 7, 2008 #4 Posted May 7, 2008 Do the above, if it does not work, clean evey contact in every connnector and dielectric grease all connections.
GigaWhiskey Posted May 7, 2008 #5 Posted May 7, 2008 If all the above does not work, put the hose down, install exhaust that the outlet is above the trunk and tell the bike no more swimmin' fer you! Oh yea, stay out of puddles higher than the rim!
