BollaWalker Posted August 12, 2019 #1 Posted August 12, 2019 I am just wondering if the 1300 carb kits and 1200 carb kits the same because I can not find the kits for my 83 XVZ1200. Thanks

cimmer Posted August 13, 2019 #3 Posted August 13, 2019 There really isnt a complete rebuild kit for the Ventures so you have to piece one together usually. Here is a few links of where you can get the kits and assorted parts. https://www.carburettorshop.com/contents/en-us/d380_Mikuni_BDS_carburetor_parts_and_rebuild_kits.html https://www.siriusconinc.com/search_result.php?make=2&model=Venture%20Royale&part=All&partno=&x=56&y=16&search=search&start=0 https://www.partshark.com/oemparts/a/yam/50042779f8700209bc7889b1/carburetor There is a difference between the 1200 and 1300 carbs so you need to be careful to make sure you get the correct parts. Also the Chinese parts are not the best quaility and fit so be aware of that. I would do a little online research before using them but that is my opinion, but for the cost of that "kit" they cant be of the best quality. I would also suggest that if you are going to tear down and rebuild the carbs that you get a nice video made by Damon Ferraiuolo. It is an excellent video on the disassembly and reassembly of the carbs. He is using Vmax carbs but they are basically the same carb with just a few differences is all. Here is a link to a previous forum post about the video. https://www.venturerider.org/forum/showthread.php?119186-Bought-Carb-Rebuild-Video-by-Damon-Ferraiuolo And above all else, dont be afraid to ask questions of us. Good luck.. Rick F.
made2care Posted August 17, 2019 #4 Posted August 17, 2019 I have attempted to rebuild goldwing carbs ( i realize you r working with a venture) over the years and after purchasing off brand non oem, I realized that's not the best route. After many kits purchased and time consuming frustration of teardown and rebuild, I simply choose to ship my carbs off to a reputable carb shop. My 83 venture carbs are currently being rebuilt by Mike Nixon out of Arizona. He only uses true OEM parts and I am willing to pay for all the work and fresh parts. When the carbs arrive, its plug and play, no guesswork or fingers crossed hoping the cheap replacement parts will hold up. I spend the $$$ and keep STABIL in the tank at all times! good luck!
cimmer Posted August 18, 2019 #5 Posted August 18, 2019 I prefer Seafoam over Stabil as I have a friend who works on small engines tell me that Stabil will gel up over time where I have not had that issue with Seafoam. I use it in all my gas engines and have had no issue with starting them up after sitting for a extended period of time. I also try to use non-ethanol gasoline in my motorcycle when I store it for the season and all my small engines. Just what I have found that works for me. Rick F.
