Patch Posted August 3, 2019 #2 Posted August 3, 2019 A 96 1300 hmm? Well maybe we can help, what seems to be the issue? Sylvester Posted August 3, 2019 #3 Posted August 3, 2019 Was the Royal Star a 1st or 2nd gen? Seems to me, I have been wrong before, that it was a 2nd gen. Nice bike and I almost bought one in 98/99.
Freebird Posted August 3, 2019 #4 Posted August 3, 2019 The '96 would be a Royal Star. After the first gen but before the '99 and later RSV and later the RSTD. 1300. Check the history pages for more details.
Atlanta Bill Posted August 4, 2019 Author #5 Posted August 4, 2019 Thanks to all and to Patch! I noodled it out on my own. With the help of research done on this forum. Ignition switch related problem was causing intermittent electrical issues. The 3 main bike shops who work on Yamaha's around here tell me a 96 is too old for them to work on. I've been researching smaller shops.
