Statussymbol Posted July 14, 2019 #1 Posted July 14, 2019 08 RSV after 450ish miles today clutch really slack. Ie loose and shift while letting it out very little. Hopefully it's just because it's about 95 today and the oil is probably extremely hot. Thought. We are stopped fir the night in Mount Vernon Illinois. Heading to Hannibal Mo 200 miles tomorrow. BlueSky Posted July 14, 2019 #2 Posted July 14, 2019 Check the fluid of course. It may need bleeding.
djh3 Posted July 15, 2019 #3 Posted July 15, 2019 Hmm how old is it? Color. Dont think it is near as critical to have fresh fluid in clutch as brakes. Air sounds like your culprit. Any visible leakage on left side under motor?
RDawson Posted July 15, 2019 #4 Posted July 15, 2019 I'm a couple hours from there if you're in a bind tomorrow. Give me a yell if you're stuck, number is in my profile.
Statussymbol Posted July 15, 2019 Author #5 Posted July 15, 2019 So sitting at walmart in bowling green,mo. Wife went to get some rubber tubing so I can put fresh dot 4 fluid in clutch. Its burnt after doing the dragon and other curves. Uuuggghhh Sent from my SM-N960U using Tapatalk

Order a master cylinder and a slave cylinder kits and replace them when you get home.
Tennessee Posted July 23, 2019 #8 Posted July 23, 2019 I would think it physically impossible for clutch fluid to "burn". Should not even be a reason why it should have gotten hot. On the other hand, a bad set of rubber O-rings and bushings in the fluid circuit could give off a lot of discoloration if they are degenerating, and if you did ride the clutch a lot doing the tail, I can see how you could have actually burned the clutch plates. But the clutch hydraulic fluid? Am I missing something?
BlueSky Posted July 23, 2019 #9 Posted July 23, 2019 Maybe it just needed to be changed. Dot 4 fluid adsorbs water quicker than Dot 3 and needs to be replaced more often.
