tufftom4 Posted June 11, 2019 #1 Posted June 11, 2019 Does anyone know if an RV rooftop A/C unit is repairable or is it a throw away item?
campfire12 Posted June 11, 2019 #2 Posted June 11, 2019 they are repairable. fan motors temp controls and sometimes just a coil cleaning. if theres a freon leak depending on how old it is the leak can be repaired and recharged.Good Luck my Friend1
Freebird Posted June 11, 2019 #3 Posted June 11, 2019 What is it doing? Is the fan running and it's just not cooling or is the fan not running? If it's just the fan not running, it could be as simple as the starting capacitor on the motor. I've had to replace two of them on my home unit over the past few years. If that is it, it's cheap fix. Less than $20.00 and even less than $10.00 if you have time to order it online.
uncledj Posted June 11, 2019 #4 Posted June 11, 2019 They can be fixed. Not that much to them. Come on up to MD and I'll look at it for ya. lol Like Don axed,....is the fan motor and compressor running?....if so and it's not putting out cold air, it's likely a leak, which is usually pretty easy to fix. If no fan or compressor, could be fan motor or compressor failure, or either on / off switch, (usually a turn knob type switch) ...or could be thermostat. Anyhoo, if you can work on a Venture, you should be able to work on your AC. Feel free to call or PM if there's anything I can do to help.

It's not an uncommon issue with motors that include caps to get em' spinnin'.
