cowpuc Posted May 27, 2019 #1 Posted May 27, 2019 A Puc Poem to those who gave it all: My mind was filled with thoughts of you as I placed each flag in my yard. The neighbors watched and nodded in respect of how you had it so hard. Those flags are placed in such a way to remind myself of National Cemetery honor. Though my little flags in that alternating formation dont show such patriotic splender. The brand new "Old Glory" I hung on the garage was made in the "USA". I felt it befitting to honor you by choosing HER to display. Over my door I hung a rope light wrapped in Red, White and Blue. The light behind those Colors of Freedom is shining because of you. No words can say how thankful I am of all you gave and done. So we could live in the land of the free, I am thankful that I am one. THANK YOU! Puc
uncledj Posted May 27, 2019 #2 Posted May 27, 2019 Great poem...Thanks. I often reflect on how thankful I am for ALL Vets; not just those who gave all. You're absolutely right to say that without them, we'd have nothing. This American experiment has been a GREAT benefit to the entire world. Those who oppose us on an ideological basis are full of beans.....the human spirit longs for the freedoms that we represent and have secured for ourselves and many throughout the world. Those who would call us imperialist should recognize that such expansion benefits them as well as us. It's created a nation of unbelievable prosperity and generosity that's been a boon to the entire world, and I can only think it's from either ignorance or envy that others throughout the world (and here at home) would berate us.... I understand theological differences, but imagine the wonder that someone from Afghanistan would have walking through a Wal Mart....love it or hate it, it is a great example of what freedom can bring. My God, but we're fortunate to have been born in the Good Ol' USA. I am thankful beyond words that my Father and Brother, who've both been in combat, WWll and Vietnam came back to me. I can't imagine what my life would have been without them. THANK YOU to all Vets,....living or dead.

Dano Posted May 27, 2019 #4 Posted May 27, 2019 and I appreciate those thoughts I used to decorate the graves of those who gave all with flags back when I was young and a member of the Sons of the American Legion
Marcarl Posted May 27, 2019 #5 Posted May 27, 2019 Sounds to me like that came straight from your heart, Thanks You. We have to wait until November to celebrate what others have done for us,,, awh, never mind, we'll do it everyday and just be updated and reminded once every year.
