Guest k4sfc@bellsouth.net Posted May 3, 2008 #1 Posted May 3, 2008 I have a 2008 RSV and I'm wondering what is the top speed? Reason being, I had three GoldWings, one ran 138 MPH, another 118 MPH and the third 108 MPH according to the speedometers.
Freebird Posted May 3, 2008 #2 Posted May 3, 2008 I've had mine close to 115 MPH. That is true speed, I have a speedohealer that corrects the speedometer error. That was also in 4th gear. These bikes will actually run faster in 4th than in 5th. At least when they are stock. I have since added a VMAX rear end so it may do it in 5th now.
stardbog Posted May 3, 2008 #3 Posted May 3, 2008 136 Mph Clocked on my GPS, Well Wasnt strait line but long in to valley downhill road. Nice farm land roads in Galena, IL area. Venture didn't feel any diferent. My Wife was behind me in car and she start screeming over CB to slow down. :cool10:
Guest Swifty Posted May 4, 2008 #4 Posted May 4, 2008 136 Mph Clocked on my GPS, better check the warranty on THAT piece of electronics, Dan.
Rich99 Posted May 4, 2008 #5 Posted May 4, 2008 I think it was buddyrich that said he took his 05 RSV up to 130 mph. At that time, we were questioning how fast the bike would go in each gear, and it was pretty close to the same speeds as my first gen did. The only difference is that the 2nd gen has a higher geared rear end as the engine turns much slower than a 1st gen.:whistling:Top end on the 83 1st gen though was 136 mph.
BuddyRich Posted May 4, 2008 #6 Posted May 4, 2008 Yep, Got it to 130. Goin by the tach cause the speedo only goes to 120. Have not tried it with the GPS lately. Here in San Antonio I haven't found a good long flat stretch out in the middle of nowhere yet to try it. I have already got 3 warning tickets here from DPS. CHP never bothered with you if you were goin 10 or less over. I don't think they'll give me a warning if they catch me doin that here.
Steve S Posted May 4, 2008 #7 Posted May 4, 2008 I've had mine over to the 3/4 mark on the gas gauge. I would say somewhere in the "losing my license for 6 months range":crying:. But it's fast enough to make a buddy with an 1800 VTX eat his words... Don, my rev limiter kicks in at around 105-110 in 4th. I'm still climbing in 5th til the wind resistance gets to be too much.
Freebird Posted May 4, 2008 #8 Posted May 4, 2008 hmmm....that truly surprises me. I never had my rev limiter kick in at that speed and have actually downshifted at close to that speed and that was before I installed the Dyna3000, no way will the rev limiter get me now.
Billet Posted May 4, 2008 #9 Posted May 4, 2008 So what is Redline on the 1294? Is that where the limiter is set? Just curious.
Yammer Dan Posted May 4, 2008 #10 Posted May 4, 2008 Saw the "Blue Beast" run out of numbers a couple of times. Warden claims it's time to start acting my age. I have a GPS to take along now so I won't have to slow down.
