cowpuc Posted February 27, 2019 #1 Posted February 27, 2019 Been looking closely at conversion kits for my 45 and noticed this... Wayyy cheaper than a full blown, flat out conversion PLUS,, wouldnt even have to monkey with my shooter to jump from one caliber to the other... Wonder if its Mil Spec full size framed to keep the shootin eye/hand in memory check... Could get interesting... Anybody got one? Thoughts? Opinions? https://www.gunbroker.com/item/800215224
gmarshall Posted February 27, 2019 #2 Posted February 27, 2019 Shooting a .22 1911 is like kissing your sister
Kretz Posted February 27, 2019 #3 Posted February 27, 2019 (edited) Don't have that particular make/ model but check out the Sig-Sauer 1911-22 or the GSG 1911-22 (identical firearms, both made by GSG (German Sporting Guns) in Germany) The one you mentioned may even be made by GSG too! The Sig & GSG 1911-22'ss are full size, take most Regular 1911 accessories & are very similar in weight & feel to the "proper" 1911. GSG did a really good job of replicating the look & feel of a 1911 but in 22. I've read varying reports on the "conversions" so would be wary & the conversions probably costs what one of those dedicated 22's would cost. Lots of you tubes on both pistols out there. Very reliable too but you do have to keep em clean. I got a Tandemcross accurizing kit that I have yet to fit. (Metal one piece guide rod (stock is plastic & can break) tapered muzzle cone, different spring etc) Fun to shoot & cheap ammo. btw Some may poo poo them as not being real guns but..... who cares if you're having a blast. luvmy40 Posted February 27, 2019 #4 Posted February 27, 2019 The "Colt" .22lr guns are all made by Umarex which is either owned by Walther or owns Walther, I can't remember which way it rolls. I do not have the 1911, 22 but I do have a "Colt" M4, 22 that is a joy to shoot and very reliable. As reliable as any .22 rim fire can be. Though I don't own one, I have fired many rounds through the M&P 22 pistol. also made by Umarex and it was also very consistent. I doubt the weight and trigger are really anything like a true 1911, but I'd go for it anyway as I'm sure it'll be a load of fun for plinking.. BTW, the 1911 .22 conversion kits are stoopid expensive!
