Do you have any experince with Sig 357 auto guns? I can get a really nice one cheap but the ammo is kinda expensive.

Have thought about porting your Taurus? I shoot 3" 000 buck in a 4.25" derringer, and switched to a Magna Port barrel. Huge difference.:happy65:

Sorry folks but I avoid any firearm with steel slide and an alloy frame.

Give me my trusty 1911 for .45 or my Browning High Power for 9mm and I'm all set!!

BTW: Nobody having firearm issues with a Taurus should be surprised; they are not the best. You get what you pay for!!

I don't bash and don't take it this way but you obviosly have never served in the military and if you did I am gratefull for your service but every little bit of weight you can shave off of a weapon and have reliability is a plus so big money heavy guns that werent reliable are not an option for people who put there lives on the line for us and my Taurus G2C has fired over 2000 rounds without a failure ever since Taurus was taken over there reliability is top notch and is better than my Glock who people think is top notch and I think is almost junk I do love Springfield Armory and some other manufactures and I did serve in the Marine Corp so I do have some idea.

Go to MagnaPort.com and look into it. There are others that do this but Magna Port has been around since at least 1980. I had a .41 magnum ported by them in 1983 and still shoot it. Really tames the beast. If you have a 1911 pistol you can get a compensator from Wilson Combat for under $100 that will do great. It is the barrel bushing and works with the recoil spring and attaches around the barrel like a bushing is meant to. But I digress. :backinmyday:

My opinion of Taurus could be a little outdated. It was developed while I worked my six days a week job, at least 40 hours per week, at Ray Judges Gun Shop in Winchester, TN during my High School days just prior to going active duty USAF for over 10 years beginning in 1985. At that time Taurus had many, many issues and was not looked upon as being a great weapon.

Don't mean to bash but facts are facts as they do not in any way compare to the top names in firearms!!

Ok,, back home (had to run in and get the transfer on my 556 AR15's brother, a BRAND NEW AR-10 7.62 NATO (308).. WOW IS IT GORGEOUS!! Anyway,,, LOVED THE VID BROTHER!! I Subscribed and left this comment:

"""Hi Tom! Puc here from VR!! EXCELLENT vid my friend!! I really enjoyed your take on safety and WOWZY,, NICE SHOOTERS!! You ever get up here to West Mich, come packin and we will get some shooting in!! LOTS and LOTS of great shootin here abouts!! LOVE MY 45's too! Almost as cheap to shoot as a 9 and enough more pop to make it fun!! I like the tunability of the 1911's for shootin everything from +P good stuff all the way to cheap Blazers (been shootin 19 cent a round, 200 grain flat noses - work awesome after dropping the recoil spring to the 12 pounder)! Glad you got the shooter fixed, tinkering with em is have the fun IMHO. Anyway,,, keep up the good work and thanks for posting. Sincerely, Puc, your very first Subscriber!"""

WELL DONE TUFFY,,, VERY WELL DONE!!

On the Sig,, I have very little experience with the Sigs. I did have a really close friend (was best man in his wedding) who was a Chief of Police a number of years ago (he has since moved on to running an Elk Ranch) who's force all carried Sigs. I used to shoot with him and those guys and can tell ya,, tain NUTTIN wrong with a Sig IMHO,, NICE PIECE.. On the other hand though,, thru some experience with Wildcattin (what we called loadin stuff that wasnt main stream) I learned that for me,, I like to stay in the main stream.. A quick check on AmmoSeek.com (you ever check them out? Between them and the Gun.Deals search engine = got me covered really well) shows that the 357 Sig has become main stream. Looks like 27 cents a round is an everyday price for ammo which pretty much matches a 357 Mag in pricing (not the cheap Steel - brass for brass if ya get my drift). Knowing that, and looking at the almost perfect ballistics match between the two,,, yea,,, I could a Sig 357 being a good shooter.. This all assuming we are talking about that caliber being in an actual Sig Saur sidearm?

You find it on GB? If you wanna give me some info I will do a little digging out there and see what kind of numbers turn up just to compare value..

You ever deal with ProMag magazines? Just ordered 2 15 round mags for my 1911 that I cant wait to try in it.. I am really curious to see what kind of results I get in recovery speed having the xtra weight hanging below the grips on the old gal.. The thing is an AMAZING shooter (NM barrel and bushing, adjustable trigger) but the bounce can slow down recovery. Porting was mentioned.. I have had a couple shooters done including a Smith 29 and Magna Port did/does AMAZING work - quality second to none. My Dad also had his 629 (also a 44 mag like my 6" 29 only in Stainless) done too.. The porting worked GREAT but I am wondering if I may get some similar results with the added 15 rounder.. Its a science experiment - and a FUN ONE!!

God blessed America when our founding fathers penned that 2nd Amendment I tell ya = keeping those who would dare to do the tyranny thing on their toes and having fun showing em what that is all about in the process = who could ask for more!!!

You a Marine? THANK YOU FOR YOUR SERVICE BROTHER:usa::usa::usa:!! May I suggest that you request your Honor Badge here on VR so others can know you served? If you have problems figuring out how to request it just ask and I would be honored/glad to assist! :happy34:

To all reading this,, Have You :bighug:Your Gun Today? :hihi:

I like Taurus. I've a few of them and have never had an issue. I have some Ruger's as well and have had a rare issue. I like my Glock,

I only have one Smith...it's ok, but I gotta say my Taurus PT140 is my go to.

IMHO Taurus makes a rugged, reliable weapon at a good price. :2cents:
