rbig1 Posted January 27, 2019 #1 Posted January 27, 2019 Well i got around to taking forks appart. Need to buy the seal and such and use paypal any ideas
BlueSky Posted January 28, 2019 #2 Posted January 28, 2019 I usually buy my OE parts from partzilla.com. Aftermarket fork seals can be bought from ebay or amazon I'm sure. I've used AllBallsRacing fork seals in my Kawasaki.
bongobobny Posted January 28, 2019 #3 Posted January 28, 2019 I have a hard time correlating the words "motorcycle parts" and "cheap" together...,
SpencerPJ Posted January 28, 2019 #4 Posted January 28, 2019 I usually enter my part number and let Google find the answer.
rbig1 Posted January 29, 2019 Author #5 Posted January 29, 2019 well bought them from partzilla.. was surprised they had all in stock. bought new brake pads, the bushings for the forks, etc just 120.00 you get free shipping at 150.00 so I bought some plastic part:mustache:
CaseyJ955 Posted January 29, 2019 #6 Posted January 29, 2019 I gotta jump in and suggest OEM fork seals. Even the nice aftermarket ones can be hit/miss. When it comes to Japanese vehicles OEM parts are very hard to beat. Forks seals are too much work, I would highly recommend grabbing a set of OEM fork seals to complete the job. Any savings would be eaten up quickly when you have to spend a decent chunk of your weekend redoing a PITA job like fork seals. I got mine from Boats.net back when they were still doing this sort of thing, new bushings and head bearings for my Gen1 really helped make it feel like a competent modern bike. Too much work to even chance it IMHO.
rbig1 Posted February 3, 2019 Author #7 Posted February 3, 2019 Well messed up on my order. I ordered the same part twice missed the bushing. So its on its way now.
rbig1 Posted February 8, 2019 Author #8 Posted February 8, 2019 I cant believe this. Some pea brain ordered the wrong bushing. Boy must be slipping..... ordered the correct number this time. Also since I'm throwing away money bought the seal driver. lol may get lost for real this summer:mo money::mo money:
SpencerPJ Posted February 8, 2019 #9 Posted February 8, 2019 And just to think, this thread started out 'Where can I get parts cheap' Glad I'm not the only one who does stuff like this
Rafterd Posted February 8, 2019 #10 Posted February 8, 2019 Just FYI, you can get an App in the App Store or play store called Babbitt’s for your phone or tablet. You can get parts for all the major brands, except Harley. So far they’ve had everything I’ve ever needed at competitive prices to everyone else. I just ordered a front brake master cylinder kit last week. Already got it and installed it.
BlueSky Posted February 8, 2019 #11 Posted February 8, 2019 I've ordered from babbitts before. No complaints. I think partzilla may be less expensive though.
