Mad Dog Posted January 7, 2019 #1 Posted January 7, 2019 After reading many posts here, I have decided to stick with the stock size 150/80-16 on the front. I like the way the beefy tire looks, and haven't had too much of an issue horsing it around. Wherever I look to buy that size is listed as a rear tire though... am I missing something? Also, is there an opinion on which tire is the stickiest? TIA Mike
Du-Rron Posted January 7, 2019 #2 Posted January 7, 2019 Shinko 777 is what you want... (Wanna buy a watch?)
MiCarl Posted January 7, 2019 #3 Posted January 7, 2019 Just looking in my system at tires that size, which means I've either sold them or at least quoted them: Pirelli MT 66 Bridgestone G721 Kenda Kruz Shinko 777 Shinko Tour Master I have a friend with a set of the MT66 on his RSV and he loves them. Some manufacturers/models of tire will list that size as MV85-16. That is a common rear size though, keep a sharp eye out that you're getting a front tire.

MiCarl Posted January 8, 2019 #5 Posted January 8, 2019 They are different? Never thought of that Yes, generally front and rear are different. The carcass on a rear tire is designed to absorb the forward torque from acceleration. The carcass on a front is designed to absorb the reward torque from braking. The tread pattern will be different too
leo3wheel Posted January 8, 2019 #6 Posted January 8, 2019 Use rear tires on the front of my RSV trike, but it is a different animal. Trike doesn't lean. Have mounted tires forward and reverse with no noticeable difference.
videoarizona Posted January 8, 2019 #7 Posted January 8, 2019 Shinko Tourmaster or 777HD. Both can be had in stock sizes front and rear. I have them and love them for stickiness and ride. Downside...you won't get 10K out of a rear. I run them about 2 pounds under tire rated max....
Graywulf Posted January 10, 2019 #8 Posted January 10, 2019 Maybe with the concrete roads {USA} you have to go sticky, but here (NZ) spray tar and chip, I can easily grind the boards on an RSV with Excedra's, and have the new battlecruise on the XV1600, both give plenty of grip.
djh3 Posted January 10, 2019 #9 Posted January 10, 2019 Only rear tire I have got 10k out of has been the Michelin Commander 2. I had over 5k on the Shinko when I traded it and it looked like it would go at least another 3 or so. Tire pressures is key.
