Most of us when we first got the bike went to big empty parking lots and practiced low speed maneuvering to get used to the size and feel of the beast. Glad you are enjoying things, and believe it or not despite what the perception of the South is, we are for the most part real genuine friendly people. Enjoy your trip and keep us apprised of how it's going.

Guest tx2sturgis Posted May 2, 2008 #8 Posted May 2, 2008 Hey guys, FutureV is sending the posts in this thread via one-way email, using his blackberry at gas stops..at least I think he is. That means, he wont be able to see your replies until he gets to a motel room, or maybe, not until he gets home. Guest tx2sturgis Posted May 2, 2008 #14 Posted May 2, 2008 How do you send a post via email?? Inquiring minds wanna know:big-grin-emoticon: Ride Safe Furture Venture!! That, I do not know....in his other thread he said he was going to do that...I guess there is an address that you use? Oh well...main thing is that he's makin good time, judging from the time-stamps on the messages, but I'm lookin at the radar maps, and I'm pretty sure hes gonna hit the only rain storms in the country right now...on his route today. Wish we had an address to SEND weather updates to him. Stay tuned !
Mariner Fan Posted May 2, 2008 #15 Posted May 2, 2008 I was thinking the same thing about the weather. He could just miss it as it's heading East. But if he's making tracks he could be riding into a big storm. http://www.weather.com/weather/map/interactive/USTN0325?from=36hr_maps&zoom=8&interactiveMapLayer=radar
Guest tx2sturgis Posted May 2, 2008 #16 Posted May 2, 2008 One of the things that is missing on the Venture, is a weather band radio. My Ultra has this built in to the stereo. I have no idea why Yamaha did not include that. That is really handy when traveling. Of course, you can always stop and buy a little weather receiver from Wal-Mart. Looking at the radar, hes gonna be heading right into some big storms....its not the rain thats a problem, its the hail, lightning, and half blind motorists that you gotta watch out for! Keeping fingers crossed for our bud.

FutureVentures Posted May 2, 2008 Author #18 Posted May 2, 2008 Well, I was dodging raindrops like a pro! One storm passed before me, one behind me......now a biggun is in Memphis and dropping hale. Stuck in Centertopia MS, yeehah. About 460 miles so far, almost half way. Motel 6 across the street is starting to look good. Still pondering... Bike is feeling better all the time. Cruise control is an amazing thing! Now, if only I could figur out why mu MP3 isn't playing thru Aux mode on the stereo, cause I don't like Country!
Squidley Posted May 2, 2008 #19 Posted May 2, 2008 He must really be having fun because he is repeating the same thing again It will be good to hear how it's going for him once he gets on a computer....be safe Erich
Guest tx2sturgis Posted May 2, 2008 #20 Posted May 2, 2008 Those repeats may just be some artifact of the blackberry email interface. I'm guessing, its only a guess tho, that he interfaced that blackberry with a server where he works to make this happen. It may be resending and waiting for acknowledgements. Just a guess.
FutureVentures Posted May 2, 2008 Author #21 Posted May 2, 2008 Yes, those storms moving thru MS and TN have grounded me, almost 500 miles for the day. Tornadoes within 15 miles, nice! Stuck in Senatobia MS...missed major rain, lightning by about 30 seconds! Thank goodness for Motel 6. A restaurant in a town where I just passed thru was hit by tornado with 30 people in it, according to a local guy. Love the Southern Hospitality, hate the tornadoes! Will elabortate more on my stay with fellow venturer Cajunsrv, who sold me my bike and was very generous with his Southern hospitality. Great guy. Saving battery so I am only posting, then powering off. More posts tomorrow as my adVenture continues. Cheers!

FutureVentures Posted May 2, 2008 Author #23 Posted May 2, 2008 Hi, I'm actually posting to the site via webbrowser on my BB. No idea why it's posting soooo many times, doh! So, u guys were right, MAJOR storms here, whoa! Off to pizza hut and BEER! HOLY MoLEY, as I was typing this, with door open, lightning struck a pole across the street, transformer blew up!!!! Very loud. We just lost power in here too, there goesw the TV! Not to mention air conditioning. Off to get beer before they get warm!
awsmsrv Posted May 2, 2008 #24 Posted May 2, 2008 That means, he wont be able to see your replies until he gets to a motel room, or maybe, not until he gets home. Actually, he can see everything on this site using the BlackBerry browser (I use Opera Mini browser). 75% the time I'm on here, I'm using my BB (now, for example). I'm assuming, of course, that he has a data plan. Love this phone. Love this site. Be careful FV.
Guest Vermincelli Posted May 2, 2008 #25 Posted May 2, 2008 Now this is the kind of trip posts I like, it's fun to hear something from every stop about the ride, the people, the area. Kinda makes you feel like you are along for the ride. This may be a neat new format for others to do too. Online interactive live trip journaling. Oh, and FutureVentures, you are my kind of guy. Tornadoes, transformer blows up, no power and you have the priorities set perfectly. Get the beer before they go warm!!
