Venturous Randy Posted November 10, 2018 #1 Posted November 10, 2018 For us old guys. Randy https://biggeekdad.com/2015/10/the-8th-of-november/
Marcarl Posted November 10, 2018 #2 Posted November 10, 2018 Thanks. Should not only be for the old guys, but a lesson for those of us who didn't have to suffer through that, or the aftermath. The war maybe over, but the memories linger on, and that might be worse that the fighting itself.
BlueSky Posted November 10, 2018 #3 Posted November 10, 2018 Most people my age know someone who died in that war. One of my friends name is on the memorial wall. And a cousin took a bullet in the abdomen but survived and recovered. I was lucky. I was sent to S. Korea.
slowrollwv Posted November 10, 2018 #4 Posted November 10, 2018 I had an older brother and a first cousin that served in Vietnam. My cousin did three tours and signed up for a fourth but was denied as he was wounded twice.
Ky. Rider Posted November 11, 2018 #5 Posted November 11, 2018 July 7, 1972 for me. Lost 4 one month and 5 days before returning to the world. We were young but beyond our years after 11 months in Nam.
Venturous Randy Posted November 11, 2018 Author #6 Posted November 11, 2018 July 7, 1972 for me. Lost 4 one month and 5 days before returning to the world. We were young but beyond our years after 11 months in Nam. July 7, 1972, I was in Ubon Thailand, 30 miles from Laos and 45 miles from Cambodia. While I was there, we had saboteurs come on base to try to blow up the AC130 gunships and right after I left, the base was hit by rockets. My tour to that part of the world was very easy compared to what some of you guys went through. I was there as part of the Easter Offensive of 72. By law, I am considered a Vietnam vet, but if anyone asks me, I tell them that I am only a Vietnam area vet due to the location I served. Randy

Those gunships were mean dudes that bailed out lots of G.I.'s over the course of the war. Yes, I was on a firebase and remember the Easter Offensive of 72. We left Nam on Aug. 13, 72. Welcome home brother.
SpencerPJ Posted November 11, 2018 #8 Posted November 11, 2018 I'm a younger guy, never served in any branch, but just want to say THANK YOU to each and every one of you that served.

Bubber Posted November 15, 2018 #10 Posted November 15, 2018 We lost a lot of good men in that war. God bless them all and their families who sacrificed so much for us all! God bless all that serve and protect the rights of all American citizens. It makes me so sad to think of the unholy and un-godly things these soldiers had to see and endure. As stated: We lost a lot of good men in that war.
