BlueSky Posted October 30, 2018 #2 Posted October 30, 2018 Amazing that someone would try to build a bike like that. You can't stop without killing the engine. What were they thinking?

YamahaLarry Posted October 30, 2018 #4 Posted October 30, 2018 Orbit. Hilarious. Engine sounded good though. And of course, if anyone has it, Leno does.
Du-Rron Posted October 30, 2018 #5 Posted October 30, 2018 The German Antithesis of Safety! I have a new respect for these brave folks and what they were willing to try around 1922.
CaseyJ955 Posted October 30, 2018 #6 Posted October 30, 2018 That is just cool, a 5 cyl radial mill tucked into the spokes. Definitely outside the box, cool! I'm not sure I can imagine touring on it, but I would not turn down the chance to give it a go.
cowpuc Posted October 30, 2018 #7 Posted October 30, 2018 WOWZY WOW WOW WOW do I like that, it even sounds awesome there Corporal Newkirk!! Nope, never ever even seen such a machine,, much less actually get to rebuild one.. Tip, Tweeks and I once followed the Cannon Ball run cross country with hopes of me getting to "help" with a broken down machine (see video,, gotta LOVE it when a plan comes together ) so you know,, when I say this I mean it = I would jump in our little Micro Motorhome named Trooper TODAY and head for Leno's garage if he invited me to lay hands on this beauty you posted = WAYYYYYYYYYYY COOL!! Sooo,,, anyone else catch the phrase "total loss system" when Jay was talking about the lube system? What that refers to is the oil is not captured in an oil tank after lubing the bearings, instead it is flowed out onto the ground (had a HD total loss once, you push down on a syringe and it pumps/pushes (that was the "oil pump") oil across the bearings and out onto the chain and then onto the road. Notice the oil dripping on the wheel of Leno's bike? That said,, I cant help but wonder how many of those orbits one would have to take before the area of the orbit would get mighty slippery = a TRUE test in rider skills required for riding on ice!! I LOVE it Newkirk,,, just LOVE IT!! THANKS FOR POSTING!! Puc
BlueSky Posted October 30, 2018 #8 Posted October 30, 2018 Anyone who thinks they would like to ride it should start and ride their motorcycle with the clutch engaged the entire time even when starting! I rode my Concours home from work one day with the clutch engaged but I was able to get the bike rolling in neutral with the engine running before putting it in first gear. I was able to make it all the way home because traffic conditions allowed me to roll through several stop signs on the way. It's not something I would like to do again.
Flyinfool Posted October 30, 2018 #9 Posted October 30, 2018 I had to drive a car home that had a broken clutch cable once, that was interesting. There is a company that makes radial engine motorcycles. http://www.jrlcycles.com/home.html

No choice since I couldn't afford a fix.
