gibvel Posted May 1, 2008 #2 Posted May 1, 2008 The 06 emblems were a little on the large, gaudy side and, I think, lots of people took them off for that reason. You might want to look around at the options of all the years of RSV and see which one you like best then you can order them from several places. http://www.yamahasportsplaza.com/pages/parts/viewbybrand/default.aspx http://www.motogrid.com/pages/parts/viewbybrand/2/yamaha.aspx http://www.mrcycles.com/fiche_select.asp?vcc=Motorcycles&mfg=Yamaha#SDOWN http://www.flatoutmotorcycles.com/fiche_select.asp Just put in all the info and go to "Fuel Tank" on the pull down at the fiche. It's part number 3. Unfortunately, all the drawings look the same so you'll not be able to see what the part looks like for any given year. That's why I said look around and at some photos on this site. They're roughly $50 to $60 . You might be able to find someone, around here, who took theirs off who'd be willing to sell or give you theirs. Edit! Ooooo I was looking at the prices on some of the newer ones and you don't want to go that route, I think. About $138 or so per emblem for 2006 and up. And I was wrong, on some of the newer ones they actually show the correct emblems.
rsstar Posted May 1, 2008 #3 Posted May 1, 2008 He's right about the 06 emblem being rather large, but it was distinctive and I really liked it. Have a friend that is holding a set for me. The 08 went back to the same/similar emblem from the older bikes. But most people who take them off do so to get that clean smooth look on the tank. If you've ever seen an RSV with the rubber strip taken off the top you'll be amazed at what a big difference that makes also. Tank is smooth and painted, and looks so much better without the strip on it. But then you just about have to put a mural there...the bike screams for a mural there.
Naked Rider Posted May 1, 2008 Author #4 Posted May 1, 2008 I myself like the emblem on the 06 like you said it made the bike a little diffrent than the others. I guess the emblem and the color is what i am after.
bugfish69 Posted May 1, 2008 #5 Posted May 1, 2008 I have an 05 and was thinking about taking mine off just to make it easier to clean. I know lazy huh?? I just have not decided how I would like it with them off.
kj4v Posted May 1, 2008 #6 Posted May 1, 2008 After I added some chrome stripping I decided not to remove mine. Look at the picture and you tell me......Ken

MAINEAC Posted May 3, 2008 #11 Posted May 3, 2008 Don't let the tank emblem stop you from buying a bike.. The seller probably has the emblems... I'm taking mine off when I buy some flaming skull decalls to go in it's place.
