Bob K. Posted September 16, 2018 #1 Posted September 16, 2018 (edited) From this... to this... A month and a half of work--a couple hundred hours' worth--and lots of help from this group! Tires, bearings, valves, carbs, water pump, final drive, forks, caliper rebuild, and fuel delivery system, lots of lubing, lots of refurbishing, lots of cleaning. Thanks for all the help! After an 11-year hiatus, she rides again tomorrow. Edited September 18, 2018 by Bob K.
SpencerPJ Posted September 16, 2018 #2 Posted September 16, 2018 Looks great, just in time for Fall Weather riding
Patch Posted September 16, 2018 #3 Posted September 16, 2018 Yes Bob that looked like a thorough cleaning and covering all bases in maintenance. If I may comment on the driving lights. Nice way to fit them but I don't believe a good practice. What I have done on my touring stuff cars included is mount and angle the right side to shed towards the ditch or tree lines. The left I keep dead straight on. I like a glow off to the right not a tight spot lighting. I enjoy my night riding even tho my risk of... is higher the solitude is welcomed.
Bob K. Posted September 16, 2018 Author #4 Posted September 16, 2018 Nice way to fit them but I don't believe a good practice. Agree! They're in a temporary holding pattern. I put them all wonky like that so that I wouldn't forget to adjust them before I began riding.
CaseyJ955 Posted September 17, 2018 #5 Posted September 17, 2018 It looks great. Nothing brings piece of mind like knowing how to field strip your scoot!
uhfradarwill Posted September 18, 2018 #6 Posted September 18, 2018 Now that is a through job, way to go. This winter I'm doing the rear drive, forks etc... BTW I see a lot of containers of various fluids in your shop but not a single jug with "XXX" on it. 1
wrscomncents Posted September 18, 2018 #7 Posted September 18, 2018 Looks like mine did not to long ago. Nice job! I got a lot of help here also. Great site and a lot of great people.
Bob K. Posted September 28, 2018 Author #8 Posted September 28, 2018 (edited) She runs terrific! Unfortunately, my desire to save a few dollars during the refurb led to some necessary disassembly and replacements. I have a leaky intake manifold o-ring on #2 , a couple leaking carb drain screw o-rings, and a leaky water jacket rubber drain plug on #4 . An additional investment of about $40 up front would have saved me about 6 hours of labor. Oh well, live and learn. Edited October 10, 2018 by Bob K.
