I bought this bike a couple months ago and here is a break down of my experiences. I hope it helps someone considering purchasing one to know what to expect and the money additionally needed.

Price paid for bike, no toolkit but did have factory canvas cover 27,200 miles ODO $1,200.00

Oil change with filter $30.00

Final drive fluid replacement, pro=rated $5.00

New AGM battery $80.00

New clutch slave cylinder replacement $95.00

Degreaser, Dawn dish soap, rags $20.00

Three cans of Seafoam $21.00

cell phone mount with USB and fuse $14.00

State reg fee $20.00

Title fee $75.00

Sales Tax, I made out for the first time ever lol $81.25

State Inspection fee $35.00

Tool kit that contains everything the original did $40.00

So the total for this machine is: $1,716.25

I'm happy with it and I couldn't come close to buying a Goldwing, in this condition, for under $3,500.

Cheers

Will

Absolutely gorgeous! If you put it beside a brand new one, I think I'd have a hard time finding differences.

Thanks Bob. There is a few nicks and dings but I'm pretty happy with the purchase!!

Not only the cosmetics, but these bikes really screw.

I remember one wise person on this site that said "faded blue is fastest";I believe him!!

That's a Gorgeous Machine! (I'm not prejudiced, much - see my gallery).

It looks like my "Old Blu" before the miles, bugs and road debris took her shine.

Just for my curiosity, what's the last 4 of her VIN? Mine's 7243 and they could be twins.

I know mine was sold somewhere on the East Coast but not who owned her. I think that I'm either the 4th or 5th owner according to title search.

Wishing you Many Happy Miles and CONGRATULATIONS!

You know, one of the nice things about a used vehicle is..... You dont fret over the first scratch or ding as much. Nice looking scoot. And I think your right on the GW thing. I think its a better looking machine then the equivalent years GW.

In my experience, there is no contest between the Gen1 Ventures and any Gold Wing of similar vintage, in any category. It is possible, though not certain there might be newer GL models that are more comfortable than Gen1 XVZs. It might be argued that there are more technological gadgets available on newer GLs(or Gen2 Ventures for that matter), but none of them are even close in over all performance, comfort and styling. There is a German word, "gestalt" that defines this beautifully.

Gestalt, when the sum of the parts is greater than the whole.

LOL Like a cassette deck is a "technological gadget"

Good lord you got a sharp bike! I wish the motor and other metals on mine looked half that nice! IMO for 1700 bucks there's not a better bike on the market. I've put 30k on mine in 3 seasons, with only 1 break down (which i should have never left on the trip with the battery the way it was) so you should feel confident on the road!
